basic cause is that the st status
Are kuki ppl really leading a tribal life and are innocent... are they living in harmony with nature and not overusing the resources? (They are cultivating opium which is not only destruction of forest but also a menance to humanity) I don't think so...such small number of people they are controlling the entire resource rich forest... they have seats , they are into politics and are similar to normal people in many ways... either their st status have to be removed or other ppl should get access... I feel the first option should be implemented instead of second one
the st status and the benefits should decrease with time or should have criteria like once 2 generations are educated it has to be removed or once ppl reach some economic conditions they have to be removed from benefits etc
That's why we need UCC.

Caste issues are just a cover up, major issue is the drug mafia controlled by across the border and Chinese influence are the biggest problem. Congress has managed it really badly, BJP solved many problems but drug mafias are influenced by congress and Chinese politicians.

Comparing Russia problem which got solved in one day and ours is prolonging. Both are different issue, this is inland clash between people of different caste, in many things are knitted.

Hi vicky, just cross check cultivation of poppy with help of myanmar. .. Total land area of Manipur is approx 22,000 sq km where the 10% of valley area is surrounded by 90% hills from all sides.
Manipur is inhabited by 4 major groups - The Meiteis, Nagas, Kukis & Meitei Pangals
The valley Meiteis are Hindus while the hill people Naga & Kuki are Christians & the Meitei Pangals are Muslims. After Independence the Meiteis were classified as Generals & the hill people as Scheduled Tribes.
The present issue is mainly from 3 reasons:
1. Most of the hills where the Kukis settles, they've poppy plantations & recently the govt has been destroying poppy plantations & they are angry at the govt for this. They say it's their livelihood, plantation of poppy illegally for processing of heroine & drugs.
2) All land belongs to the govt incl the hills & forests. Kukis are settled in Myanmar too & coz of the Myanmar military issue many Myanmar Kukis are illegally settling in the hills of Manipur with the help of Manipur Kukis, who make fake aadhar cards for them.
More recent villages were coming up, but govt found out that the illegal immigrants were encroaching the reserved forest areas & evicting them. But the Kukis are playing victim card & claiming the hills belong to them.
3) The 90% land of the hills are protected by MLR & LR Act & article 371c (something similar to article 370) as the hill people are Scheduled Tribes & no one can buy land & settle in tribal land. So population is sparsely populated in the hills.
Rest in the 10% valley land, the land of the indigenous Meiteis, where Meiteis settled since time immemorial & has more than 2,000 yrs chronicled history, since they are general category, everyone comes & settles for business, work, buying land & permanent settlement.
Anyone & everyone can settle in the valley. Due to this demographic changes, The Meiteis are becoming minority in their own land. No safeguard of the indigenous Meiteis just because all are General category while the same indigenous hill people the tribals are safeguarded as ST's
And because of this discrimination, the Meiteis are demanding ST status to be safeguarded, but the tribals are opposing it.
Manipur govt is sitting cold over the issue but recently Manipur HC directed the State govt to send recommendations to the Centre to include Meiteis in ST.
The tribals, instead of appealing in SC, have been threatening for agitation which eventually was held y'day. It was supposed to be a peace rally but it turned violent from Churachandpur district, Kuki populated district where 1000s of kuki youths incl armed Kuki militants ...crossed over to the bordering valley District of Bishnupur & burned Meitei houses which killed several people incl a a 2 yr old kid
After this news became viral, Meiteis retaliated & now it’s 2nd day running. Communal riots are happening all over Manipur between Kukis & Meities.
Many houses burned incl Hindu temples & Christian churches & many killed. The content is copied from Rupa Mam (credits) & my sole purpose is to spread info only, as many didn't know about the actual matter in Manipur & asked to write aboug it .
