I remember way back when, in an episode, they had brought up this up. Whatever is obviously edible for everyone/most will be consumed by the crew. Anything else gets donated to pig farms for slop or composted. Don't quote me on this, just what my memories tell me. But I remember it coming up in an episode
Erewhon used to be a semi normal independent health food store. They only very slowly morphed into an expensive luxury status type store. I work nearby, but rarely go there. It's weird that people would pay 15 bucks for an egg salad sandwich. It's just boiled eggs and mayo!
The fact that there is a store that sells normal food at 10x the price just so people can feel better about themselves for shopping there, that is the most California thing I have ever heard
I think they're just used to Kroger usually being the winner and Link wasn't really paying attention to the fact that Walmart actually won this episode while Kroger did just fine overall.
I know these episodes aren’t super fast paced or exciting but they’re my favourites. I like naked foods, any taste test, comparisons. They’re mild but sometimes you need to cleanse your pallet
I want to see Rhett and Link do a tase taste of all Reese's products across all categories. It would definitely be their highest scoring episode of all time and theyd have a super hard time choosing a favorite
I have never heard of Erewhon despite living/working in LA, and wow, I will never shop there. I don't mind paying a slight price bump for convenience, but it's looking like everything is 2-3x as much as it should be.
Walmart definitely benefits from the fact they don't have to go in the Walmart. And it might not be true anymore but when I went to Walmart as a kid they weren't very clean. It can be hard to get past those kinds of strong associations.
@@ceeceepg Depends entirely on the area, the walmarts I grew up with were pristine. But I've been in some where I fully understand where people get the bad view of walmart from.
Thank you Rhett and Link and the whole mythical crew that put so much time and effort into making these daily episodes! They bring such happiness to my life and I’ve been watching for years (a big fan since 2016) I love the show and I wish the best for everyone who is a part of making these episodes daily ! Lots of love from the UK! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I loved seeing Rhett say the Walmart and erewhon chickens tasted like the bagged chicken you get at Ralph’s (which is kroger), when the one they thought was the best WAS THE BAGGED CHICKEN FROM KROGER

Wow I shop at Stew Leonard’s and the chowder is $10 but you get a big container of it and it’s pretty damn good. It’s not fancy but it is a little pricey but the quality of food is higher tier.
I love these episodes and the gut checks, but for someone with a small stomach all I can think about during these episodes are how full and nauseous I would be at the end of them. I’d definitely need a few breaks throughout the taping lol
I just imagine after any of the food episodes the crew gets the weirdest potluck lunch with the extras
I think that all the time. The Tillamook ice cream buffet was probably tough for the lactose crowd.

What you described is egg salad. Egg salad sandwich also contains bread. \s
@@MrKuncolwell that changes everything. It has to be worth 15 bucks if it includes bread 🤣
Don't forget the sad lettuce
15$ for a sandwich then complain that rent is to expensive.
@@guaip lettuce in egg salad is weird
I'm glad to see that even with their success they haven't lost touch with how expensive things should be

Same here, now I'm getting others hooked on it

Props to the art department! I am obsessed with the little grocery baskets! So cute!
I've seen those for kids in grocery stores.
They most likely just bought that from somewhere since I've seen that same kiddie cart at a few stores.
& art to the props department!
They're very cute!!!!!!
they are very cute and make great decorations
I love that every time they do these episodes they talk up Kroger at the beginning and then get surprised when Walmart is better almost every round.
For real🤣
except kroger does have the best stuff generally
It’s also basically the same price as Walmart cents on the dollar difference at most.
It was about half and half
Well Kroger did have the best according to them for 50% of the rounds
The fact that there is a store that sells normal food at 10x the price just so people can feel better about themselves for shopping there, that is the most California thing I have ever heard

When you thought Whole Foods was expensive
Whole Foods is actually cheaper than Publix for a lot of things now
not only is whole foods cheaper but it seems significantly better considering how often walmart and kroger beat earworm or whatever.
@@dirtrider88 earworm 🤣
Their 365 line is quite well priced, especially for the quality!
The egg salad sandwich is the Erewhon equivalent to Whole Food's asparagus water.
I think Erewhon is just a social experiment. It’s giving strong “Emperor’s New Clothes” vibes.
it's also *almost* the word "nowhere" backwards. that fits with your theory.
@@jlt131 that’s based on a novel and is intentional

Read this comment exact when Rhett said flavor profile
lmao read this just as he said it
I love how they started with loving walmart and ended with loving kroger.
and never loving erewhon
They always praise Kroger in these games, even if there ends up only being one thing they actually liked from there lol
I think Kroger pays them.

Yes, because that's what we need right now: luxury grocery stores.

@nicholaskraut1704 they did it, bro. Maybe you should be on the creative team 🤔
Good Mythical Morning Buddies!!
Can I just say that I absolutely love the mini shopping baskets adorning today’s set!!!
$18 for a rotisserie chicken almost seems reasonable to me. Especially if you compare it to a $15 egg salad sandwich or a $21 bowl of soup.
The best chicken I ever had was a 26€ local organic free-range and all that one my mom cooked.
Compared to Costco’s $5 chicken it seems insane, but at least it feeds 4+ people
That is double what the prices for the grocery stores around where I live in Iowa tend to be around nine dollars
a fast food place in australia, red rooster, sells a whole rotisserie chicken for about 20 dollars if i ememebr right
well the soup was 32 oz so that's like 3 portions, $15 sandwich is just wild though
Shoutout to the crew that decorated the table with lil shopping baskets that made my whole day 😊
Can you guys do a similar video like this but against the mythical chefs to see if their better at picking fancy food
I like that idea
I wanna see grocery store vs restaurant vs chefs

So, Link keeps Rhett from eating, and Rhett keeps Link from sharp objects. 🌈 BALANCE🌈
