Cool little bonus video of Katlyn . And she is a true driver and knows how to hang on for dear life. Plus the "Someone better have that on video" was great to hear ✓
It is great that you are showing how the fab works. I have been a welder and fabricator since I was 14. My one regret is I didn't wear flash glasses the whole time. I'm 72 and I now have cataracts and had to have surgery on my left eye due to burns on my retina. It doesn't seem like much but those little spots you see after getting flashed is your retina getting a scar. Get one on your optic nerve and it's lights out.
Congrats to Katelynn! Looked like a rough ride going down the 30 ft rock, but her first words were "I hope someone got that on video". She rocks! (pun intended) Nice job drilling and tapping too!
The best tapping, with the least breakage, depends on straight tap. If you have a tap wrench, remove the bit from the mag drill, set the tap in place, and align the tap with the drill. Get Matt to build a dead center for starting taps. (For the next project, looks like you got this one.) Yep, great roll footage! Glad you weren’t injured. Glad this year was slightly less exciting!

Im 68 years old and a retired mechanic. When i was 23 or so i had a bench job to build a corvair engine for an air boat. Customer supplied factory .60 over size pistons. I didnt get to hear it run till he took entire shop personal duck hunting in port aransas. Only corvair engine i ever built. When i road in the boat i was quite proud of myself. It sounded like helicopters in the back bay. Customer was real pleased with my work. Love your videos.
Matt, you have an awesome family, and your whole crew is pretty spectacular too. I have to send a special shout out to you for adding Katelynn, though. She fits right in with her positive attitude, work ethic, willingness to learn, but she has to be the best offroad driver in the whole MORR crew. No slight against anyone else. She just rocks behind the wheel. Literally. She also slings a pretty mean mag drill on a Friday, no less!
Advice for the crew welding on projects. When you're trying to fit steel that isn't the same shape or won't lay flat, put a nice hot weld on the side that is sticking out then smack it. Once you smack it, it will have cooked enough to hold where you want it. May save yall some time. Love all the videos! Keep it up

Kaitlyn, you absolutely ROCK!! Like others here, when your XJ rolled off that cliff, and hearing you scream, I caught myself holding my breath. Great job on second place!! You'll be holding podium spots for many years to come! Matt, you have a great team member in Kaitlyn. The entire team is enjoyable. Thanks for years of fun!!!
Katelyn, for future reference you can tap with your mag drill. Even if it doesn't reverse you can run your tap in with the drill then release the tap from the tap holder and back it out by hand. That saves lots of elbow grease and time. It also means the tap will be perfectly lined up with the hole after drilling so much less likely to break taps. Also that roll over was crazy. Even more crazy was the first thing you said while getting out. "Hope someone got that on video" Impressive young lady for sure.
Taping with all those extensions is almost guaranteed to have the tap go in crooked and on a deep thread more likely to snap if it is threading uneven.
Also you can make a tap guide by drilling a thick block of steel maybe 1 inch in the mill so it is drilled perpendicular to the surface. Drill a hole the body size of the tap. But the mag drill if running slow is the better way. ATF is as good as any commercial cutting oil for tap and drilling and saves money by using used stuff. IMO
This video had everything of what this channel is. Stuck vehicle's, the weather,Ed and Rudy, Jamie. Not to mention everyone else who makes this channel great. When Kaitlyn went over that 30 ft roll over my 💜 froze. One of the best videos of MORR.
14:26 That was neat how Peanut wagged her tail right on cue! Way to go Kaitlyn in the rock crawling! Great seeing Ed still keeping an eye on the progress. That's a torquey little engine Rudy, I hope it does really well for you. Thanks for the video.
Stopped by your shop to pick up a hat and a couple of t-shirts! Ya'll we're pretty busy working on your new shop so we didn't bother you. Thanks for letting us have a tour of your yard and snapping a few photo's of your rigs! Your always welcome welcome at our place in Alberta if you ever make the trip.
I love the Jeep xj. I have watched thousands of xj videos .My interest in Offroad recovery started when I got mine stuck the first time. The xj is what led me to this channel. Katelyn's roll over was the scariest xj video I have ever seen. Her response Priceless. She has experienced something thee most experienced hope to never and made a clever comment when the dust settled..very cool
Caitlin you are an amazing off-roader and fabricator. Two things my boss at the machine shop taught me that can speed fabrication: Once you've drilled a hole going back and forth won't make it any bigger or better. 2. You can tap holes in mild steel using an impact driver as long as you have plenty of lubrication. Watch Paul's videos, he does it all the time.
When Kaitlyn jumps out and yells. Holy so much respect. You are one of a kind and never let anyone tell you different. Someone like you can go anywhere and do anything🎉
Damn. Get it Kaitlyn. Girl obviously knows how to drive, that acceleration to get out of that endo was awesome. Her dad’s obviously a damn good builder and trainer him self.
Matt, just a little comment on what you said about your children. Your wife and you obviously showed your children by example, because they are just all wonderful. I watch all of your videos and can't get enough. The way you treat Ed and all of your employees like they are your family is something Jaimey and you should be very proud of. BTW please tell Lizzy that we miss her. We also miss Hefa, as we don't see much any more. I love all of you.🤟
About a month or two ago I suggested that you get a mag drill. Awesome to see you using one today. Today's suggestion is to tap the holes you drill before you remove the mag drill. You can either power thread them, depending on the thickness and material, or use the drill with a pointed centering pin. Makes it much easier to have the drill hold the center of the tap. Love your videos!!!!
I concur. As a tool and die maker myself, power tapping saves all kinds of time as well as ensuring the threads are straight. We have two mag drills where I work...both probably 50yrs old and ready for the boneyard. They make it more challenging to drill what should be easy with a proper magdrill😂
I agree, couldn't believe MORR didn't have a mag drill with all the frame drilling they do. But then was a little surprised to see the new mag drill is cordless. I mean, it's not like it needs to be that portable. Nice not to be tripping over a cord, I guess, but I still lean toward corded tools or air tools when I don't really need cordless. They just last longer without having to spend a bunch of money on them. I get tired of buying batteries. But I assume MORR gets freebies from sponsors!
I'm very very impressed with Katelyn . I Never even had a incling that she was involved in Rock crawling. This has made her One cool Chick !!! Not that she wasn't already a cool Chick !!! I really appreciate a woman who show's the men how to drive !!!
Kaitlyn, If the mag drill has a really slow speed, you might be able to tap with it by only applying slight pressure on the handle. The tap should pull it through the metal. Just make sure you use plenty of cutting oil or tapping oil. When you get close to the depth you want, turn it off, brush away any chips, then reverse the spindle. Provided it has reverse. We always did it that way on the hand milling machine. As for that roll over you did a few years ago, if you call it an off-road vehicular somersault, I think they'll give you extra points. 😉👍
I watch all your videos. I'm a cancer survivor. That enjoys everything u guys do keep up your awesome work b4 I got sick I enjoyed off-roading here in Oregon. Thanks for the videos and teaching kids skills.
Your speech on kids is 100 percent. My daughter has had my sweet old 95 Chevy the last two weeks and I was under her car all day yesterday replacing the fuel pump and about to replace a ac compressor and clean the system out and get her ac ice cold agaim
I love Jake’s descriptive words lol He’s always got some great outside box descriptive words and a great attitude. I look forward to hearing what he’s going to say about whatever part he’s working on. Keep being you Jake!
Ok lots going on at Matt's off road recovery. Spud truck upgrades, sand buggy drives, KaitLynn video which was awesome! Nice to see Rudy in the shop. Good video!
"Somebody better have gotten that on video!" Is about as good of a response to that rollover as you could have given. Absolutely epic Katelynn! Congrats!
A tap handle will make tapping easier and reduce the broken tap count. If you really want to knock a pile of time off get spiral flute taps which can be machine driven. A lot of folks run them in with an electric drill.
Congrats, Katelyn, on your success! And Matt, you are such a generous man spreading the attention of your channel to everyone in your circle.... it's such a rare form of generosity in today's world. 🎉🎉🎉
Katlyn so awesome to watch you drive. Had to rewind video and watch you fall over and over again. A true competitor. Keep doing what ya doing and congrats on taking second place.
Lots of good stuff in this vid… Katlin survives a wicked roll, Rhett gets Stuck and a haircut (miss the Mullet). Good to see Rudy back in the MORR shop. Anybody else see a mouse in the background when Rudy starts his new motor at 36:00?
Matt, I know where you are coming from on the engine crossmember Ford made some big crossmembers. I had to cut my 2000 Ford Ranger crossmember about the same way when I installed my 552 big block Ford in it to clear the oil pan. People said it would be too weak but after putting braces back on it I never had a problem out of it. It runs 5.80s in the 1/8 mile at 118 mph 9.20s in the 1/4 mile at 148 mph.
Man that was awesome watching Kaitlyn drive that awesome rock crawler. I would like to see more of her doing that. So glad she is ok after that insane rollover off the cliff. I seriously would have crapped my pants. I don’t know I’d ever would have gotten into another rig after that.
Katelyn's Video from the Grand Nationals was insane. Well Done. And that crash from a few years ago was terrifying. You are courageous to survive that and learn from it and come back even stronger and better.
Please get the poor girl a proper tap handle! It makes it so much easier. Easier to start the tap straight and easier to tap and won’t break taps as much. Life long machinist here.
Kaitlin (I know I’m spelling that wrong)! Oh my gosh! You are a warrior! Even though you’re young enough to be my daughter, I wanna be like you when I grow up! WOWZA! So inspiring! I saw your 30ft cliff fall video on some other channel I was watching (I don’t remember which channel), but I remember thinking holy cow that girl is TOUGH! Then I find out that was you! So cool, and I’m so glad you’re ok after that one!
Everybody is being serious and thinking and working, suddenly Rhett's voice from under the truck, "It's pretty nice and cool under here actually." I don't know why but that cracked me up.
I don't know but it seems like to me your gonna have to space those back axles out a little to make room for bigger tires and you truly want some bigger tires ,say like maybe some nice 52" gumbo monster mudders they are truly some badass tires. Good for any terrain you can throw at them.hell yeah.
Tapping all those holes, putting the tap in a hand drill in lo-speed is better than trying to do it by hand with tee handle or socket. You put too much side loading into the tap, and they can’t flex as they’re about as hard as glass. Also works very well in the mag drill too! A two-flute taper tap is the way to go. Clears the chips out and doesn’t jam up and break the tap 👍 Loving the spud truck progress, and awesome to see the next generation gaining fab skills!!💪👏
Agree 100%, except for smaller taps, easier to flex with all that extra weight. Hopefully they see these machining comments, as they are actually worthwhile. No need to tell em how to build their projects, they got that under control.
Congratulations Kaitlyn!! Awesome job! So wonderful to see our young folks getting involved in these events. Over on Colt's channel, he spoke with the Western Pro-Mod champion who is 16!!
I love these shop builds, It's like Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid. All your content is great, the team on camera are all super fun to watch too. You have a great family vibe :D and what do I say about the rigs...I've always loved the idea of putting classic cars on lifted chassis so this is the perfect channel :D Keep up the great work :D
Kaitlyn, that video of you rolling the Jeep was nuts! I was waiting for Med-Evac to show up!! ..and then when you stood the crawler n its front end and was about to go over, how you powered out of that and brought it back down on all fours was unbelieveable! You took first place on this MORR video and Matt & the crew are in second! :-)
Was looking for someone who was thinking this as well. I prefer a spiral flute tap for power tapping, but any machine tap will work. Spiral flute will just pull the chip out so you don't have to fish them out of the box section. If you use a countersinking bit before you tap it you can add a chamfer so the bolts start a little easier too.
Thanks for adding in the spots of Katelynn doing her rock crawling competition! Scary scene of her rollover, but thanks to a well-built car everything turned out OK. Lots of little goodies in this video. Loved it all!
Roller Rockets on a 60+ year old Engine!! Who’d a thunk it!!! Very Cool. That motor sounded awesome and looks like it’s going to have lots of torque.. Good Luck Rudy with your Car!! Another great Shop Video, Guys! Always great seeing Jayme and Ed in them!
I love that you still show fabrication and off-roading. Many channels get popular and transition to only product endorsement channels and I move on. I don't need to see the hundreds of thousand of dollars of machinery given to someone to try and sell it to me. I'm OK with the sponsors, not OK if it is the sole focus of the channel.
Oh man. Got to say... When Jake started getting in front of the camera, I couldnt help think... What a photo bombing Ham...; ). Now... This guy is a leading man. What a transformation! Love all you guys. I look forward to your Sunday videos every week in the shop. Katelyn is a rock star, brave lady. Congrats!
Holy smokes! I had seen that video before but I had no idea it was Katelynn. I always assumed the girl screaming was a bystander. Took it like a champ!

Katelyn, for future reference you can tap with your mag drill. Even if it doesn't reverse you can run your tap in with the drill then release the tap from the tap holder and back it out by hand. Hopefully a spiral point tap as well.
You saw Matt using a Crescent to drive in a tap.
Seen the man build a UJ with a carpenter claw hammer.
They don't do the correct tools for anything.
More shade for Rhett...
Clears the chips out and doesn’t jam up and break the tap 👍
Loving the spud truck progress, and awesome to see the next generation gaining fab skills!!💪👏
That was cool to see Jamie driving her jeep it sounded real nice love watching your channel can't wait to see the Baja projects 👀
Matt, if you use “Gun Taps” you can power tap as long as you use cutting oil
Was looking for someone who was thinking this as well. I prefer a spiral flute tap for power tapping, but any machine tap will work. Spiral flute will just pull the chip out so you don't have to fish them out of the box section. If you use a countersinking bit before you tap it you can add a chamfer so the bolts start a little easier too.
Thanks for adding in the spots of Katelynn doing her rock crawling competition! Scary scene of her rollover, but thanks to a well-built car everything turned out OK. Lots of little goodies in this video. Loved it all!
Congratulations Katelyn, and your reaction to the rollover was priceless.
Right. I wasn’t even there three years ago and I was freaking out!
The recoveries are fun to watch, but it's the shop builds that keep me coming back.
Good job Kaitlyn congratulations Very impressive
Roller Rockets on a 60+ year old Engine!!
Who’d a thunk it!!! Very Cool. That motor sounded awesome and looks like it’s going to have lots of torque.. Good Luck Rudy with your Car!! Another great Shop Video, Guys!
Always great seeing Jayme and Ed in them!
It's cool seeing Rudy and Janelle in the MORR shop. It makes a great shop even better.
i enjoy both kinds of videos, fabrication is cool, challenging recoveries are cool, and the more standard recoveries have chill vibes
WOW! great job pulling out of that endo Katelyn! As Matt would say "Amazing"
Love Jake and him behind camera. Love his attitude.
Nice to see Rudy working in the shop.
“As you can tell, we’re not in Utah.” Barely anyone could tell. 😂 Junipers.
Utah has got its fair share of junipers too.
Congrats!
Katlyn, congrats on your competition placing. You go girl!
That recovery after getting vertical from Katelyn was epic!
I love the shop builds. Its a great mix.
I visited LT and watched the teardown of your engine. I'm really, really looking forward to seeing it in that big blue terror!
Congrats Katelyn!! Total badass!
That was some badass driving Katelyn! Congrats!!
anybody notice the mouse being scared by the engine noise in the background at 36:02
Is AWESOME to see how acomplished Kaitlyn is!!!! Appreciate you showing us the talents of your team members..
Well done, Katelyn.🎉🎉🎉
Great to see Rudy and Janell….I enjoy all your videos, shop work, recoveries, community stuff, and the racing.
I have to give a compliment where it's due. These young men and young lady are more competent then alot of adults.
100% agreed!!! 🤠
Holy smokes! I had seen that video before but I had no idea it was Katelynn. I always assumed the girl screaming was a bystander. Took it like a champ!
It was her mom. Katelynn wasn’t screaming.
Peanut is always being very good!
Some mighty fine work being done there.
Matt, kiddos for giving her video time on your channel for her great rock crawling achievement!
Cheetos.
@Matt I like the build videos, as well as your awesome recovery videos!
