Thankyou Nick for the news + update on Al. I didn't know until I say your post. I wish him well and a speedy & full recovery. The man is indeed a Legend and loved so much by so many. I still remember when I was about 22/23 years old in the late 70's, of a young girl working in a paper shop opposite where I worked in a Bingo Hall, and I went to most days. She lent me an album "Elegant Gypsy" having told me about Al Di Meola who I said I never heard of. She said "You need to hear this guy" I did and wow ! That was a lucky day for me. He could easily have escaped my radar and never got to listen to him. I was into Prog & Rock mostly at that time. Funny how such moments in life can change things. Take care Nick. ❤ Jim X
Thanks for the info and update Nick. We will have the great Al Dimeola in our thoughts. Glad he is okay and hoping for a speedy recovery. We are all just travelers here. He will be back and his amazing contributions will continue.❤️
😮 Wholly Smokes...Just crazy and on stage...Yes, thankfully he made it back~ Big ❤ for Al...he will be in my thoughts and I will send out to the Universe...
Nick, I strongly suggest a song or two from Stomu Yamasta's Go. The band consisted of Al DiMeola (guitars), Steve Winwood (vocals), Michael Shrieve (drums - Santana's first 7 albums), Klaus Schulze (keys - TangerineDream, etc), and Stomu Yamashta (percussion+). The suggested songs are "Winner/Loser" from the Live from Paris album. Also, from the Go Too album (Winwood had left for his solo work) ... "Mysteries of Love". Also, from the Live in Paris album, "Crossing the Line" is a great song, but Pat Thrall plays lead guitar. 🙏wishing a speedy recovery 🙏
@@kbrewski1All of the albums are great. I updated the songs from my original post. I love Crossing the Line, but Pat Thrall plays lead guitar on it ... studio and the live album and other live recordings. I prefer the Go Too album, but Winwood had left. Yamashta was fortunate to catch the talent he assembled because members were between projects.
I am just hearing this now, from you! I hope he is okay. I remember him as the young, incredibly talented guitarist in Return to Forever. I heard him play with that group in the 70s and then again as a solo artist in the early 80s when he shared a bill with Carlos Santana. A true joy of that latter show was when Al and Carlos jammed together, trading solos back and forth.
Buna ziua, Nick! I'm glad to hear Al is doing okay. What is it with the heart attacks lately? Multumiri! When I saw Al in Charlotte, in the '80s, he opened for Renaissance. Imaginez! Popped him a note on Facebook. Thanks for the idea.
Our health is important, and I suggest everyone get annual physicals with an EKG. My life was saved by my doctor comparing the prior year EKG when he noticed something on the new EKG. After many procedures to confirm and determine severity, I had open heart surgery (surgery was needed immediately). I was 36. My brother passed in 2019 from a massive heart attack. There are too many stressors in our lives, and our diets are typically poor. Annual physicals with bloodwork and an EKG, colonoscopies, annual checkups with a urologist or OB/Gyn, and an annual skin check. I know this costs money, but we have but one life.
Thank Orpheus that Al D is healthy and stable. You HAVE to check out Al DiMeola, Paco Delucia and John McLaughlin 'Friday Night in San Francisco.' It's a MUST listen Nick and Lex! 😎🎼🎶🎼😎 Alan Holdsworth lived a hard life, and you wouldn't believe how much liquor he could hold! Rest in Peace, Master Holdsworth! 🙏❤️🙏
One I can't believe you know who this guy is You're too young! Secondly, this is my favorite guitar player in college years, every album I bought Still on my playlist
Glad to hear he's okay . . . I know how big a fan you are man, you may mention him as much as Holdsworth and Jarzombek :). Yet again, prayers and good thoughts for Al. I know when Kerry Livgren got his stroke, sooooo many prayers and well wishes were sent to him, and I had known that he was working on a Symphonic project called "Lazarus", and like Lazarus, he was cured and at full recovery and was able to finish his great Cantata (for "35" years), and he is still with us . . . so I hope the same for Al 🥲.
Holy crap!! So many people with heart issues!! He will be in my prayers. Al is one of my favorites, too.
i seen Al, Paco and John back in the late 90s in Fullerton CA.. Bombastic acoustic set.

Incredibly sad. hope he's ok. it's shocking how many sudden heart problems and deaths there's been in the past year or two.

Heart attacks, at least mine, bring life into focus. We have to make new choices.
i have been listening to him since the 70's

Very sad indeed. He's a battler, he'll be right.
Early warning hopefully he makes a Full recovery 🙏
