I've so many memories here! Late nights hanging out at Sam's corner, occasionally all the way to sunrise. Fun times on the pier, dining at Sarah J's. In recent years I tend to stay up in North Myrtle but definitely have to get back to Garden City one day. Cheers and thanks for the video!
Another great video I used to live right on the other side of where the batting cage used to be. Met one of my best friends in that arcade he was working there at the time and later he came to work for me and that was 1995 and still to this day we're still the best of friends. Am I God that arcade other than the games have changed the layout looks exactly the same
I remember when the largest structure on that strip was Garden City Motor Inn. All the tall buildings cast shaddow on the beach in the evening. Miss those days.
Wow....Garden City Motor Inn is sooooo short. That is really saying something. When I was coming up, Royal Garden and Water’s Edge were already around. I can only imagine how you feel with all of the changes over the years. 🐬
@@southernmermaid2526 I figured out how to get around the long shadows... I try to find accommodations south of the Garden City Pier.. And you don't have to deal with the runoff from backwaters.
@@BlueridgeAcres I remember too. Hugo hit during my Senior year. So when I went to Surfside Beach for my Senior vacation the hotel my family used to stay at was completely gone. My Mama had talked to the owners who we'd gotten to know well. They said they decided not to rebuild. It was a nice Mom & Pop place right on the beach called Sea Squires & it was clean. Really nice people. So when we went to the beach in 1990 the roads still had sand on them & still a lot of destruction. We live in Upstate SC & we even had really bad storms here & power outages. 🥺 Mr. Myrtle, Were you living in Surfside during that time? Do you remember that motel? I don't know your age but I'm 48. I figure you're about 10 yrs younger than me. Lol. Not sure! 🙏🏻✝️🙋🏼♀️
My band played there on the tip of the pier and on the cafe deck a lot during the summer for like 4 years. ua-cam.com/video/96Kx116saQU/v-deo.html I played the drums. I had some of my favorite shows here during that time. Smiling faces, people dancing.. just having fun. Many awesome late night memories here.
Hey Mr. Myrtle! I love the Garden City pier & arcade! I haven't been there in years! Hope you're having a great weekend! I look forward to watching this relaxing video! God bless you & your family! 🙏🏻✝️🙋🏼♀️😊😎
Thank you, lovely times, hope to go again someday!
Thanks so much for this video. Brings back a lot of good memories. We would always stay at Madame Butterfly.
This is my home. I have been going down to the point to try and avoid the crowds this year. Thanks for capturing the beauty of Garden City Beach. 🐬
Garden City is a great area to relax in ! Great Video
It really is!

Great place to stay! Love Garden City.
Me too!
I love this place its my happy spot
Same here
Great video here. The best pier on the grand strand in my opinion, its free and they have plenty of umbrellas to escape the sun.
Thanks for sharing!

Any time!
Thanks, we will be staying at Huntington Beach and needed to check this out. All the years we have been coming down we did not know this was there.
Wow! Seriously this is ABSOLUTELY what I needed! I can take a deep breath! Beautiful! My little furbaby is listening to the birds! LOL 😂😁🐶🐶
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@MrMyrtle I really did! I NEEDED to relax! I honestly am so thankful for your videos! 😊🙋🏼♀️

You are correct in your assumptions :) I have lived here since age of 11/12, so I missed Hugo. My wife was here.

Do U needa Fish license if Tourist ? TY 4 any info
I love Garden City so much! When I die, I want to be cremated and I want my ashes scattered in the ocean at Garden City Beach!
Is this pier wheelchair accessible?
There is a ramp up to the arcade/pier building which leads to the actual pier so I would say it is accessible.
