I really enjoyed this video. It was the art schools in Penzance, Newlyn and St Ives that triggered my visit to Cornwall in 2015. I was particularly interested in Herbert Ivan Babbage an expatriot New Zealander who had established a studio in St Ives in 1905. At Penlee House Gallery the staff very kindly took us into the storage racks so that we could see 'Tucking a School of Pilchards off the Cornish Coast " by Stanhope Forbes. I had asked if it was on display and that not being so, my wife and I were given a private viewing. Great service for a couple of random visitors from New Zealand. Your video brought back lovely memories. Thank you.
Love visiting harbours and villages in Devon and Cornwall, my Mum was born in Dartmouth and so visited South Devon many many times of course, we live in North Devon now after moving from London 9 years ago so we are able to almost be on their doorstep as it is my our home now, i do local heritage work as a volunteer. Over the last few years i have noticed how crowded many places have become even in non school term time when we do most of our visiting, unfortunately many places have become a millionaire's playground of second homes leaving the locals nowhere to live or even work. I don't know how these issues will be resolved but i will continue to support my beautiful counties.
Thank you for a joyous visit to Fowey. Had to pause the video to get myself some ice cream. Cherry vanilla. I know it's only 10 in the morning. But yours looked sooo good. Love all your videos. Keep up the good work. Yes, Andrew, I love your jokes. Keep them coming.
Just been to Fowey today and totally agree that the game of cones ice cream are divine! Thanks for the tip. We walked up out to Gribbin head and back to Par. Really nice walk. Thanks guys❤
Love Fowey! Been on the boat trip up past Daphne du Maurier’s house & out to St Catherine’s point. Next time we’re there I want to go on the ferry to Polruan. As some one said below, your videos get better & better; you make it seem so easy with your relaxed style. So grateful for what you do.
Just got to love Fowey, been many times and each time I discover something new. Have never ventured out to Readymoney Cove but will have to next time we visit. Another great video, keep them coming, they are the highlight of Friday morning breakfast time.
We love Fowey but have never ventured as far up as the beach and castle! Can’t believe we missed all of this - looking forward to exploring with fresh eyes next weekend. We will definitely be visiting Game of Cones! 🙏💜
Hi Sarah and Andrew, thank you very much for sharing this video. I love Fowey, We were there in February and that was the fourth time we visited this beautiful town. The wonderful old houses have such a charm. There is so much to discover and shop in the beautiful shops. Readymoney beach is a fantastic place. It will probably be very crowded in the summer too. We also walked up the steep path to the castle. I remembered exactly the way you walked. So beautiful! And you deserved the delicious ice cream!!! It makes me want to book Cornwall again this year in autumn. We always travel to Cornwall in September/October. But it would be the third time this year:))) Once in Devon. It's always a very very long drive. Wish you all the best and take care of yourselves, Gabi:)
Just what I needed, a fantastic tour around beautiful Fowey! 🥰 I visited briefly last year and loved what I saw then, but now I know for sure that I will spend a lot more time there next time. Your tour was brilliant and showed so much of all there is to do and see. I also didn't know Fowey is so long and diverse 🙂 The house prices are insane though, but I am not going to buy one there myself. Thank you! Torunn ❤
Had tocwatch your vlog as I just went to Ready Money Cove last Tuesday 11th July?. It's so cute and a real find! Can't wait to go back. I know Fowey quite well, but have never visited this cove. Must visit the ice cream place too.
It`s been sometime since we stayed in Fowey , memories of eating fish and chips from the wrapper underneath the King of Prussia pub while the rain was hammering down , A great vid as always guys and a nice guide for the first time and seasoned Fowey goers as well,,,,,,Brian&Jane .
Fowey is my fave town. Used to holiday there every year staying at Penmarlam in boddinnick. Fudge shop if still there has amazing fudge. Look up Mary Bryant from Fowey, she was on the first fleet to botany Bay and successfully escaped, and made it back to England eventually receiving a royal pardon. Late 1780's. A Dutch film production company filmed her story some years back. Well worth a watch. Have done hall walk several times... a great walk. Also hired boats at Fowey Quay, great value for money and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Thank you Sarah and Andrew ~ an informative and fun-filled tour! Fowey is beautiful. Love all the architecture, the pretty cottages (so well maintained!) and higgledy-piggledy streets with quirky alleyways. Looks like a wonderful place to visit (last time for me: 30yrs ago!), and I hope go there again soon, but I also hope there are still some local Cornish families living there. Keep up the brilliant work! x
I do love Mevagissey, but Fowey and Halford are my two favourite spots. Readymoney is so beautiful....I don't know how Dawn French could leave her lovely house. Other than for the sake of privacy i suppose. Great video guys.
Lovely! The little towers at Readymoney Cove are so fun...and that view!! I could definitely see wandering around all day in Fowey. Since I discovered your channel, happily learned the proper pronunciation of the place names in the Du Maurier novels I've read over the years. I adore the old guide books and historical photos you share! :)
Great video Sarah and Andrew 👌. We are lucky enough to live near Mevagissey and Fowey.. so visit both quite often. I love both for different reasons really.. but mainly because they are traditional Cornish villages with gorgeous old and quaint buildings that are unique and best of all wonky... which all goes to part of their charm 🙏. Took my Mum the other day and had to have one of those ice-creams too 😋🍦. Thanks for another entertaining video guys.. and always show me something new 👏🥰
I always love watching your videos and this is another great one. When I’ve been to Fowey, it’s always been a quick visit, but will try and make it longer next time 😊
Yes fowey one of Cornwall's jewels. Just come across this video of yours as i was watching one you did on the self portrait painter . Now a question. Have you done one on polpero. And Frenchman's creek. Look forward now to view your other videos. Very nice .
This was quite simply ‘delightful’ Full of ‘fun’ & useful information, Fowey is stunning - only visited once but, as I remember I did love it. We love what you both do…….brilliant video again. PS The ice cream looked yummy and at £3 the best value I have seen this year.Mmmmm
Absolutely love Fowey. Was there in 2018 and didn't have nearly enough time to explore. I did find a gluten free cream tea at The Dwelling House, though, and gluten free pasty pie at Kittows. Thank you for this fantastic tour!
Hi Sarah and Andrew, there is another car park in the flat a couple of hundred meters on from Kaffa Mill, also you missed the old grammar school garden on the Esplanade a little haven of peace. We have just returned home after there weeks in Cornwall, 52 year!
Well done Sarah and Andrew another great video. Fowey looks a very nice place to visit. Can I say I agree with Andrew the prices at the King of Prussia are like the bus route very steep.
i used to love cornwall but i am now unable to walk far, i have a blue badge but i did not spot any parkiing places , still thank you for youir blog, very good .
Lovely. Like going on a tour with two friends.🧔♂👱♀ Strangely, I have never stopped off at Fowey. Always en route somewhere else after driving off the ferry. It looks beautiful for sure and on such a lovely sunny day too.☀ Sadly, these days, my only venture there is courtesy of your videos as unable to walk very far. But I look forward every week to seeing some of the places that I missed along the way when I was able to venture all over Cornwall. Thanks you two💚 x J x

Fowey is our local "bolthole" especially out of season. Living in the Bodmin area, it is quick and Readymoney and Caffa Mill car parks are free out of season.... 1 November - 31st March.
The Omaze house was won by a guy in Leicester but after visiting for a couple of months decided he was to far away from family so put it up for sale at 4.5 million, i don't know what or even if it sold for but at 4.5 million it was one million more than Omaze who valued it at 3.5 million in the advert.

The fish and chips look a far better price 😋 Do they cater for disabled people and vegetarian,I live near the sea in Kent but it doesn't compare with Cornwall, Fowey looks like a beautiful place to visit, love the icecreams😋,Thank you for the tour around Fowey 👍👍
The Omaze house was won.I imagine that the lady who won it is deciding whether she wants to live there or not.I'd sell it and buy something more traditional.
Plenty of free parking in Fowey if you know where to look. Too many locally owned independents have closed over the last few years making way for tourist traps but apparently that's progress. Property market has slowed significantly this year from my experience.
i want to book the harbour hotel fowey, and was wondering what the town is like, and what to see, have been to St Ives and St Austell on different previous visits

Now a steak is £25+, while a burger has closed the price gap and is often £18-20. We all know costs of everything have gone up but not that much!
You know there's a cost of living crisis right? And you're aware that tourism brings all the money in during the summer period and then people have to live off that until next year, it's hard work, they don't get to enjoy the summer like you. So show some respect, pay the price and say thank you!
@@broadsword6650 then you will be refused service and everyone will hate you, and hopefully you'll upset the wrong person and they will send you to A&E
@@broadsword6650 just show some more respect for people that work very hard to make you happy. There is no £50 burger either, unless it's with some crazy, dry aged wagu. Probably more like £20 which is normal for a restaurant meal. Thanks for your suggestion. Answer is very simple - cost. We can’t afford to upgrade everything. The channel rarely pays its way, so we use what we have. Sarah :)
Fowey or Mevagissey ? It's like asking you to choose a favourite child! The Omaze house may have a great view , but could you put up with the ferry clanking away all day, and the queues to get on it going past your front gate? You also said that shops are leaving Truro because of low footfall, perhaps greedy landlords and property developers are also to blame!
I love Fowey, and am going back to tomorrow, but the price increases for food and drink in Cornwall is criminal! Everywhere I am seeing burgers cost £18+. Crab sandwiches over £20!, There is no need for it. No wonder tourist numbers have been dropping.
Why? Electric vehicles are not the solution to everything. Have you looked into how to dispose of one at the end of its life? Particularly the batteries.

Thanks that was really helpful. Regards
In my youth the bedinck ferry had the motor boats either side
Again thank you Sarah and Andrew, you’ve taken me back to when my late wife and I visited on our honeymoon in 76. Is the vinyl record shop still there?
we did that 40 years ago, would love to re visit but multiple sclerosis stops us now
Looks like a beautiful place ❤😊
It is until it gets rammed with tourists, and the mere thought of seeing Gordon Ramsay puts me off even more.

I and my family struggle to eat in Fowey, because we are all vegan you can only eat a vegan Cornish pasty once or twice.
Parts remind me of Dartmouth
I love Fowey, and am going back to tomorrow, but the price increases for food and drink in Cornwall is criminal! Everywhere I am seeing burgers cost £18+. Crab sandwiches over £20!, There is no need for it. No wonder tourist numbers have been dropping.
What goes on and on and has an I in the middle? - Onion.
I prefer Fowey to Mevagissey
London on sea full of chinless wonders sadly..
What a ridiculous comment
i would like to see ALL vehicles banned from town centres unless full EV'S in high summer
Why? Electric vehicles are not the solution to everything. Have you looked into how to dispose of one at the end of its life? Particularly the batteries.
