It's absolutely magical to hear a talented guitarist truly take advantage of clean amp. The Mesa and the Fender are astounding in both areas. The Fender is more classic, more traditional and the Mesa is more modern sounding......more dynamic and has that sweet spot to die for. I own a Deluxe but I got to tell I got a jones for the Mesa. Bravo to the guitarist. Some great stratocaster sounds.
Have had all these vintage amps I mean Every Blackface etc But in ny area its so very hard to find an Amp tech after My Amp Tech retired and that changed everything for me. But I also found that Alot of these vintage amps are Great AMPS AT Just doing ONE THING Great. Now First of all the Lonestar special isn't exactly like a blackface, As its really its own Circuit more of a chimey Femder Vox amp I believe. Class A amps are so easy to maintain as the lonestar special is No tube Biasing as u just pop them in and Voila! The Versatility is unbeliavable I have Had the LoneStar SPECIAL Amp for over 6 months and I haven't YET taken advantage of all the things One Can Do With the Lonestar Special . As Far as MOJO, The Blackfaces Just Win that Battle hands Down! Also The Feel of the Deluxe reverb maybe Preferred by some as I believe it uses GV6s If you don't Care about Collecting Amps and Just want to play Music Than the Lonestar special is the way to go ,not only financially but Mentally. You wont be frustrated chasing Different amps. Thats just my Humble Opinion ! Cheers!!
I own a Mesa Lonestar 2x12 with selectable 100/50/10w switch. I love this amp. The best I’ve ever owned. It’s also 100lbs and so moving it around for gigging is an issue. I was looking for a Mesa Lonestar 1x12 or the Deluxe Reverb. Thank you for this video. The tubes are a big difference in the amps. The Mesa is fixed for el34’s and the Fender fixed for 6v6’s. The Mesa 2x12 has a bias switch so you can use el34 or 6l6’s. To me, the Mesa in this video has a very clean tone while the Fender notes are slightly fuzzy around the edges. Also, the Mesa is raised while the Fender sits on the floor as well as the mic type and location are unknown. Listening with headphones to the quality of the tone is where it’s at for me. The Mesa is a far more versatile an amp but to me, the 6v6’s have a more soulful tone. As much as I love the Mesa, I’m after a specific tone and the 6v6’s do it for me.
I agree with you about the chimyness of the deluxe but I just hate how the low e string on the deluxe sounds like it is always struggling to fill a room with a low end punch. The mesa just sounds way more full on the bottom end. I think the mesa sounds like a way better designed amp. The fender sounds awesome but it just lacks "oomph" the lower notes.
I think that both are great , but they are different in the sense that if you own a mesa boogie special , you know you are getting much more than a great sounding clean amp . The second channel is great too . And the way you manipulare your tone , is endless . The reverb is great and so is the effects loop. The only thing in common between this amps is that they both have great sounding clean channels .
I have a Lonestar Special, the latest (and hopefully last) in a long line of Mesa amps that I've used since the 1980's. To me, it's like have two great sounding Deluxe Reverbs in one amp- one side for clean and another for OD sounds. If you can find one, get it- simply the best that Mesa has to offer, and that's saying a lot!
You must do a video Comparing the Lonestar classic vs the Deluxe reverb Both amps use 6l6 I think? Would be more of a fair fight ‘I am surprised that comparison isn’t on video Love this video thanks!
been trying to figure out what amp i want to replace the gear i had to sell due to medical issues years ago, and looks like i decided on a mesa..... now time to save up for another year
He also has the mids pushed way up on the lonestar , it has more darker tone than the fender , a fender with a clean boost in front sounds very similar as I’ve owned both the lonestar and the delux
Yep only way to get a Fender to sound full and lush you need a boost in front. One that adds specific mids. That’s why Klons make fenders sound so good. Or you can just play a Lonestar straight in and have endless possibilities
@@scottadolphe390 Even Better. The Fender sounds very good. The Mess sound a bit more versatile. It also sounds fabulous. But with a touch more versatility. I like it!!!!
I have the Lonestar Special 1 x 12 and a Fender Deluxe 57 reissue (and others). I’ve done this comparison myself. To my ears, the Fender Deluxe sounds more chimey but i prefer that tone. Huge difference though when I set my Lonestar Special cabinet touching the floor. Far more pleasing, richer tones.
@@sirvidia if the enclosure is allowed contact with the floor, you would be hearing more of a bass response since those frequencies would transfer through the floor/room better and would be picked up by the mic a bit better.
after a few minutes of listening to both of these amps, i realised i was listening to the 'tone' during the lonestar, and i was listening to a piece of 'music' during the fenders playthroughs..i must be brainwashed into the fender sound, and i bet you all are too in some way ;) Lonestar is trying to compete and beat the best, the fender is singing, the only amp in the room as far as it's concerned. Just my opinion.

If you a Mesa lone star special keep it because they don't make them anymore, piece of art.
I sold my Lone Star. I will get another in the next year. Gonna run stereo with a Ampeg VT-22.

6v6s are more 3d sound
It’s a Lonestar Special with four EL84s.

A mí me encanta el Fender ,yo tengo un twin reverb del 79 , pero la tridimensionalidad del Mesa Lonestar es indiscutible

Nice comparision
Everyone sucks off the fender but I own a lonestar classic and it is way better than the ice pick highs of the fender
I can never get into the scooped fender sounds.. lonestar over fender any day.
been trying to figure out what amp i want to replace the gear i had to sell due to medical issues years ago, and looks like i decided on a mesa..... now time to save up for another year
Really nice !
The Lonestars also give you the option of tube rectifier / solid state.

I think it's important to get the name of the mesa amp correct. It's a "Lonestar Special" which is very different from a regular "Lonestar".
Same preamp in both but el-84 power tubes in the special, vs. 6l6 in the "Lonestar", right?
@@gunjabeans They sound very different, and the wattage choices are different.
It is actually Mesa Boogie "Lone Star" Special
The “ Special “ is a Class A Tube amp along the lines of a Vox AC30. and has a 5, 15, and a 30 watt select switch
@@gunjabeans I think the lonestar can also use EL34 and 6L6s? Cheers!
Como suena eso papete!!!!! Abrazote.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😎😎🙂😎
Question!! What version of the Mesa Lonestar is this. The 100/50 watt or the 30/15 watt version?
Neither. It looks to be the Lone Star Special which is 5/15/30 Watt Class A

That Boogie would sound even better if it where sitting directly on the floor.
Why?

What's the speaker in the Deluxe?
Hi! Jensen Ceramic Original, Regards
@@olimusic mine has a celestion alnico creamback it sounds so nice
que sonidooooo!!
Jees, once you switched over to the Fender it sounded like someone stuck a blanket in my ears.
Deluxe meraviglia
Why all the mids on the Mesa, if you want to compare it with the mid scooped Fender?
Hello I try the equalization of the Mesa to compare it with the fender
Just as chimey the lone star looses some treble witch I kind of like
The more I look and listen to this video. I want to own one!. What exactly is your overall impression between the two???
well, it will always depend on money, but if you don't have that problem I would go for black!
@@olimusic to our think it sounds better than the lonestar?
@@travisraab for me the best amp is Deluxe reverb black

I think it's the 'push' of the lonestar that i dislike. It has baked in compression compared to the fender.
So, tell me which one do you like the most?
¿Entonces dime cuál te gusta más? ¿Y por qué?

Hi! well clearly blackface is the best guitar amp of all time
Presence to 11
I love Mesa’s cleans. They are beautiful but to me they always fall just short of a black face Fender.
The mesa sounds three dimensional
Next to the beautiful Lone Star special, the Fender sounds like ass 😅
if you choose the Mesa you save more than half of your money!
Yep, the Fender sounds like an 8" speaker next to the Mesa. The Mesa sounds like a 15"!!!
Deluxe is the best
Fender hands down.
Envia pra o brazil?
el mesa esta en venta en 2mil dolares, pero no envio amigo, saludos!
