We had a Beta but the video stores never carried anything but VHS. Hard to imagine that there was actually a time in which being able to fast-forward or rewind was considered to be cutting-edge technology.

Ahh the numerous special effects when it first came out....it had fast search in Extremely poor quality and was only around $1000 in 1980 money.
