A really helpful video. Got my first air tool last xmas, haven’t had a chance to set up workshop and use it yet ( new baby!), but plans are in the pipeline, making space in garage/shed, got air compressor, just need to get organised. With a safe space. My other half said he’d entertain baby when I try some prep. We have boxes of fossils. A trip to sandsend a couple of years ago meant a pack full of dacs, I’ll practice on the less perfect one. 👍🏻😀
That’s a great insight to what you need for fossils Dan,I noticed that big Hildi with a crack in it (shame )🙁.What do you do with all that waste rock that comes off the fossils?🤔
That’s not a crack bud, it’s just the line where some of the shell came off the internal mould. There is a bit missing, which is what the white stuff is replacing it with. I’ll shape it at some point and paint and you’ll never be able to tell the difference 😉. It’s a whopper that one too. Just a touch over 7inch!
Perfect video for anyone thinking of upgrading from electric engraver/rotary prep tools to see whats what and how it is, thanks for that
No problem! Glad I could be of help!

@@WhitbyFossils1 lol I know what you mean.
I remodelled mine last year and now I need to make it bigger again 😬🤣🤣🤣
Fantastic to see your prep setup. Really helpful for prep newbies like me :) Could you give me some more info on the extractor please?
Glad it could help. I can't remember the brand, but its just a normal wood dust extractor!

How do you oil up your tools?
Take them apart and either user a dropper with oil in or get a cloth with some oil on and rub it on
10 for content and a 1 for cleanliness. 😁
🤣 I wish I could say iv cleaned it since, but I’d be lying 👀. That was 3 weeks ago haha!
