  • Here we take a look at Ferragamo's answer to high-quality welted shoes, in their 'Tramezza' Line made by famous Napolitano Shoemaker Paolo Scafora.
    And to top it off, it is a full alligator wholecut in a very unique pattern that is sure to stun anyone in its wake. Indeed a beautiful pair of shoes.

    Just picked up a pair of Ferragamo loafers at a second hand shop (for $100 AUD) with ‘Tramezza’ marked on the sole. Thanks for the info- nice to know my new old shoes are probably solid quality!

    I've had over a dozen Ferragamo men's shoes in the past 20 years. Yes, the Tramezza are much better than the simpler and cheaper Studio line. However, the one thing I don't like about the Tramezza is that they are heavier, with a thicker sole, and less flexible. Whenever I know that I'll have a long day ahead on my feet, I'll always wear the lighter and more comfortable Studio line.

      Thanks for sharing Tony, but this is all rather quite subjective as for me, I feel the exact opposite as you do and prefer that welted support and feel way too much lack of it in a thin soled blake/cemented shoe that I cannot last longer than 1 hr with. To each his own

    I just bought some lightly used Tramezza oxfords for $100 (not alligator skin, I hasten to add). Had no idea that I was buying Scafora. Nice! Cna't wait to receive them and give them the full treatment :)

      Scafora is not the only one that makes Ferragamo’s tramezza. There’s another supplier in Florence that makes this kind of construction.

    Alligator from Paolo Scafora I think is around $6.5K. That’s some name markup.

      @@theshoesnob_official crap, I responded to this and it must have been deleted.. I had a link to the ebay auction where I got them... anyway, they appear to have been made in 2017... for Alfred Dunhill... I called G&G and they confirmed they did work for them.. But I'm unable to confirm they are in fact G&G.. Just go on ebay and type "Gaziano & Girling Alfred Dunhill Alligator" they'll come up.. there's still a size 11 for sale.

    Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick,
    You said that the Ferragamo blake stitch shoes were throwaway shoes. Do you mean then, that you believe all blake stitched shoes are throwaway shoes?

    • @theshoesnob_official
      @theshoesnob_official  2 роки тому +2

      No, there are good ones, made with quality and value for money. But like with all Ferragamo products the majority of what you are paying for is the name. If going Blake stitched, best to pay for quality and not namen otherwise yes for me they are not worth their salt as charhing way too much for what I believe is an inferior construction method. Of course if one has 100 pairs of shoes then it does not matter. But if one is looking for longevity and value then there are better places to find it then Ferragamo's standard line.

      Sutor Mantellassi used to make high quality Blake and Blake Rapid shoes. I have one of the latter. Not sure if the quality is the same since they changed ownership and became more of a fashion brand.

      @@jcc1889 they can be yes. Pretty sure Ferragamo doesnt make blake rapid though. I think people might be misunderstanding. Fashion is a throwaway concept as it is always changing. Not to be confused with style. Therefore products are not really made with the intention of lasting you "forever" or indefinitely. Hence why all "designer fashion" brands using blake or cemented.

    It's not about quality it' is design. Cachermire swater's are thin and delicate and coats arent' as warm, you pay for the luxurious feel and look. Velvet is notoriously delicate and silk can't even get wet. So your Blake soled Italians shoes are made that way not for cost but for sleekness. Thin soled Italians shoes are much prettier than chunky Goodyear English shoes. Granted they don't last as long is not value it is for people than CAN AFFORD luxury items. Not only brand has value, also design and Italians are miles ahead over British. I'm really fed up with UA-camrs making millions telling people about value, while they use tom ford and Louis Vuitton thanks to the voluble and insecure audience. Don't confuse value with affordability. Luxury is not affordable because long lasting it's not their goal they use the best materials that last according their properties. If you want durability choose thicker coarser fabrics like tweed or felt.

    • @theshoesnob_official
      @theshoesnob_official  5 днів тому

      You forgot to say IMHO aka in 'Your Humble Opinion'. As per the rest, funny. Luxury? Please. You know not of the materials and corner cutting that clearly goes on in 'Italian Designer Brands'. Now, I am not referring to Paolo Scafora made Ferragamos (as Paolo makes quality) but the blake stitched/cemeneted stuff with nearly plastic-like leather for $1000 with a Gucci/Ferragamo stamp. Please. Thats not luxury. Thats selling gullible idiots a name and nothing more. Thin-soled doesnt equal sleek. A last makes the sleekness.
