@@doggerlander therapy aint magic bro. Lots of people think you can just go to therapy and be fixed but thats not how it works. I got major social anxiety and going to therapy isnt changing that
Only real way to solve this is to expose yourself to more social situations, and of different varieties. I used to be an incredibly shy and sensitive person. No bragging shit but I’ve literally won awards now from my social skills. I’m at the point where people are surprised that I describe myself as an introvert, which I definitely still am. I’ve just improved the aspects of my personality that other people can see. Talking to people is a skill, and like anything else it requires practice. Straight up, I don’t really know of another way to fix social anxiety. Observe people who you admire for being funny, caring and easy to talk to, and think about why you admire the way they talk to other people. Use being an introvert, or deep thinker, or however else you describe yourself as an advantage. Conversation is also more about listening and comprehension skills than just talking well. The questions you ask will have a far bigger impact on a person than anything else you say. If someone feels like they can open up with you and that you truly listen to and respect what they say, that’s like 70% of what being a good conversationalist is. But all of that requires you to put yourself in social situations and get constant feedback. Feedback doesn’t usually come in the form of people complimenting you directly. It comes in the form of people repeatedly finding reasons to interact with you. The absolute most important and easiest way to start this process is to strike up conversations with random strangers when you go out. They don’t even have to be long. If you see someone with a pair of shoes you like, tell them that. Find different ways to say the same thing. Compliment the things that people made a conscious effort to choose, not things that they were born with. Compliment a girl on her nails or sunglasses, rather than her eye color or something. Next step is asking people how their day is going. If they give a real answer, pick out an interesting part that you genuinely want to learn more about. I cannot stress this enough: you have to get out of your shell. If you don’t, you’ll never realize how great life can be when you aren’t afraid to interact with people. It’s not easy. But it will become easier the more you do it. You’ll eventually start surprising yourself with how well you can navigate conversations and have fun with it. That’s the best part, but you have to work towards it.
