much better than an emulator, you get the actually buttons which feels alot better than a touch screen
Technically it's still an emulator. (How else can these games that, for obvious reasons, are completely incompatible with Android smart phones be played on one?) All this adapter does is copy the ROM and save files from the original cartridge and allow you to play it on an emulator with GameBoy-esque physical buttons instead of a touch screen.
I mean as in its better than just downloading it since you actually have the game and you have buttons

Thing is, most OLEDs are a type of display, that utilizes an Active Matrix. It's taking something that isn't special, but most people don't know it, so they make it sound special.
What is kinda weird, is OLED alone is completely special, it's my dream display. Each individual pixel, IS, it's own backlight, depending on the amount of current that passes through, you get a certain color, at a certain brightness. No wash out from a backlight also means ultimate blacks, and whiter whites. When you see black on an OLED display, those parts of the screen aren't even on. Freaking gorgeous.
So I have no idea why they made AMOLED a thing. It's just OLED. XP Says it all on it's own.

It's kind of a waste that it doesn't play GBA games.
This company also put out a system called the Retron 5. This machine works like the Smartboy in that it dumps the rom and save files. It also lets you use save states. Hooks up to the TV via HDMI and plays NES, Famicom, SNES, Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Genesis, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance games. You can update the firmware through the official website along with an SD card. The machine even lets you use Super Gameboy color pallets.
Why do u need to play GBA games? GBC had alot of classics. It isnt a total waste as well. The buttons are there to give you the actual feel and plus, its Leagal!

Seems pretty neat if aesthetically clunky and only available to customers Samsung? with android phones. If it saves the game back to the cart/keeps the save itself that's definitely a useful feature.

nintendo's handheld game consoles always saves the game in the cartridge. I know it because I continued to play pokemon black on my brother's nintendo ds.
When you save the game, does it write that data back to the cartridge or does it just stay on your phone? I think that is what would make it or break it with me.

No, it can't. When he first launches the game you can see that he's running the game through a GameBoy emulator app called MyOldBoy. That means that the .sav file would be stored inside the save folder directory for the app which is going to be inside his phone's OS. This is basically how it works, the physical cartridge thing is basically a temporary ROM dumper, it creates a copy of the game's ROM on your phone while the game is plugged in. The physical controller part of the accessory is basically just a clip on USB controller. You still have to use an emulator to play the game like you would if you didn't own this thing. All this device does is make it so you don't have to download ROMs (which is really inconvenient because you can probably fit the entire GameBoy library of games on a like 4GB microSD card) and you can play on a physical controller. The reason why his saved game showed up is because it's probably designed to check if there's an existing .sav file for the game within the save directory for the emulator and if there isn't it just dumps the existing .sav file from inside the cartridge.

It would be really cool if they could integrate a Game Boy in the device and send the screen buffer to the Android device, so it can be displayed. That way, we would be able to play the save files from the original cart.

It makes me wonder if the controller buttons support HID input. If this is the case, you should be able to use it with other emulators, or even other games. Judging from the USB input (and the fact that the adapter uses My OldBoy!), I think it is more than feasible.

Damn I just realized something.. for people who have old saves on their gameboy games, they could simply use this device as a save-uploading tool. Could be for taking them on the go without the GB or just backing the games up as a means of prep for potential battery failure.

On my computer, at least Python and the web browser just conks out and measures it wrong. But that's a 0. with 43 zeroes behind it.
Buuuuutttttt... we still have not found a way to measure whether the universe has a 'tick' or not. Just because its the lowest number that is *usefull* to measure does not mean that its the 'tick' that the universe runs from. All the photons could be slightly displaced from one another.
