Karen, our paths have crossed in the most unexpected and heartbreaking ways. Like you, my life took a devastating turn in 2016 when I found myself ensnared in a web of fabricated accusations. For three agonizing years, I endured the confines of Taguig City Jail, a place that held both sorrow and hope within its walls. Those precious visits from my family, where tears mingled with love, remain etched in my heart as a testament to their unwavering support.
The pain of being pronounced guilty at the RTC and handed a life sentence was almost unbearable. But in the midst of those towering walls topped with barbed wire, I found solace in the thought of you, my kindred spirit, who shared the same burdens. Gazing beyond the confines of our prison, I wondered how the outside world carried on, yearning for the freedom that seemed so elusive.
As each night descended, tears became my silent companions, but amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged. Becoming a Church worker within the prison walls allowed me to embrace resilience, to find strength in faith, and to believe that redemption was still within reach. And then, the heavens answered our prayers. Last year, a beacon of light shone upon me as the Court of Appeals granted my appeal, restoring my innocence and setting me free.
Now, having tasted the sweetness of liberty for a year, I cherish every moment with a newfound appreciation for life's precious gifts. With my studies set to resume on August 7, my heart brims with excitement, for I dream of becoming a lawyer. This journey of rediscovery not only motivates me to achieve my aspirations but also to extend a helping hand to my fellow PDLs, for no one should suffer the injustice of wrongful imprisonment.
In this tender embrace of gratitude, I hold my family close, their unwavering love and support a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. And as I reflect upon this tumultuous journey, I realize that divine intervention guided me back to the path of righteousness. I am forever indebted to God's boundless love and His gentle guidance, which transformed despair into hope, and shattered dreams into resolute determination ❤️

Very inspiring. This vlog is an eye opener to everyone. Sana tuloy2 lng ang pagbabago at improvements ng systems sa ating mga jails. May pamangkin ako na under training na ngayun sa BJMP. He is a Cum Laude graduate of UST Manila. Hopefully one day kung maging Warden din sya ay mlaki din ang maitulong nya sa improvements at pangangasiwa ng mga jails. My Dad also got locked up 5 months ago. As I watched this video, I can't stop thinking of him on how he was doing inside the cell despite from his misdemeanor. This video gave me a pathway of hopes on his release soon and anticipating for his improvements as a better person/father to us. Kudos Ms. Karen for this video. It enlightens my awareness on how it feels inside this slammer. Your transition is truly inspiring.
