  • Here is how to play from altissimo B through D# on the saxophone. Essentially you need to overblow the palm D through F# fingerings, stitching them a major 6th higher. Sometimes people find this part of the altissimo register easier to hit than the G to Bb range just above the normal register. It may sound like a squeal or a wild seagull for a while but try not to reflexively shy away from the noise, learn how to control the squeal and adjust to find and control notes that are in tune. They will tend to drift sharp like all high register notes to begin with but persevere. These higher notes are very flexible, as in you can easily move their pitch around with the embouchure, so be careful to voice them accurately, try using a tuner to help. Don’t worry if nothing comes out for a while, keep going!

Wow. Worked first try. Every other tutorial failed and this one worked flawlessly. Thx.

This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. Already having training, just needed something to the point. Thanks!

I've used these same fingerings for years. Continue this up to higher to harmonics of those fingerings for even more range.
