True! Her staccato is perfect! Some of those singers couldn't even get all the notes right even though they used legato yet Maria Aleida goes perfect pitch w/ staccato! She's amazing!
Can we just agree that whoever told Audrey Lena to be ‘sexy’ should never direct or choreograph anything again to me it was just weird and unnatural even her stance at the beginning made me feel awkward
*Maria and Rachele* were the best for different reasons: Maria (The first lady, utilized staccato unbelievably well). Rachele (The last lady) on the other hand utilized Legato incredibly; it might appear to be easier but making sure that every note is placed in such a flowing manner is actually difficult!
Carne Guisada She could if she had the voice type. However, Lady Gaga is a mezzo soprano. Her supported range ends somewhere around C6, because her highest recorded head voice note is B5. But not away from Svetlana Zakharova:) I'm dancing on point myself and my eyes hurt by just watching this awful "technique" (I know she doesnt have any)
Maria Aleida is phenomenal! It's a shame she's not more famous. (Although she's probably making bank singing with Andrea Bocelli, so it's possibly her choice.)
I can't believe no one is saying Karola Agay at 1:35! She has such a mastery of dyanics. The soft breathy tone she starts with opens up into a beautiful squillo over the first legato phrase - the volume of which is extremely even, immensely difficult across such a large range of pitches. Then she disguises her breathing so cleverly, breaking it into four parts - two larger breaths at 1:42 and 1:45, and two smaller breaths (just barely audible!) between them - so that she's able to INSTANTLY phrase from her sustained legato at 1:46 into her magnificent stacatto at 1:48, adding an additional high flourish on the ascent! Contrast it against Maria's similarly excellent stacatto at 0:33 - Maria's breath is so well disguised, but Karola sings the phrase completely uninterrupted. An immense talent.
Maria Aleida gives one of the best performances, though I could listen to Rachele Gilmore all day. Aleida also goes up for the last note instead of down, which is almost unimaginable. Christina Johnson, however, is the only one here who managed a vibrato on that high note - kudos for that.
I'm amazed no one else gave this hands down to Karola Agai, she's the only one that had the lightness and airiness, and was able to be delicate enough with that high staccato arpeggiation at the end, because she's the only one who didn't have to strain for those notes. Thank you for introducing me to a wonderful Soprano I'd never heard before
sabine may have had a wack hairline but i just absolutely love how she added form and shape to her singing. holly flack as well! her voice was strong and she carried that Ab6 extremely well
damnitkate she’s not on pointe tho... she needs to be over her box and we’ll there is a lot of other technical stuff that i won’t name because she is the only one on pointe(others are in pointe shoes but don’t actually get on pointe) and that takes a lot especially if you aren’t treained properly. so yea props to her but it kinda deducts points if it isn’t correctly( i’m only mainly saying this because you can EASILY hurt yourself if not used correctly)
Crazy_kat0_0 Oof This TERRIFIED me as a ballet dancer since I was almost certain she was going to break her ankle from not being able to get all the way over the box! Do not go en pointe unless you have years of quality training! You are risking getting severely injured!
Countrycowboy08 ...umm... i’m not sure if that was sarcasm or not...i only stated it because you can hurt yourself -like you can break an ankle - but umm if that wasn’t sarcasm than...thank you..??
Maria and Rachele were definitely my favorites. Maria's staccato is so flawless, and while Rachele didn't really have much of a staccato, her legato was so smooth so i'll give her that.

Maria’s staccato was delicious my god! Excellent technique! Sabine’s phrasing and spin was refreshing and made me smile. Gave such warmth and the “Mars Attacks” wig tickled me immensely
I was THRILLED that you did a "who sang it better" on this piece ... until I watched it. At the end I was screaming at my computer screen, "How ... HOW could you leave out Carla Maffioletti's performance with André Rieu & orchestra?!!!!!!" But then I knocked the chip off my shoulder when I saw this musical survey was created three years prior to that performance. I strongly recommend you give it a watch. Possibly not the most beautifully executed Ab6 but still very beautiful and definitely the most fun.
Rachele's performance is one of the most amazing things i've ever heard in my entire life. she will forever give me chills every time i hear her. when you know the background to that recording, that just makes it even more perfect.

Oh you should see that performance in the end of the piece she hits and sustains a very long Ab6!!!!!
Her staccato notes were the best
