Minutemen....One of the most underrated and underplayed punk bands of all time,,,,my 21 year old son loves them...I have raised him well....D would approve!
Originally on "What Makes A Man Start Fires?", was the first Minutemen album I ever owned. I got it right when it came out and it blew away my 14 year old mind. There sound was so unique and interesting and I never heard hardcore like that before that I went back to the same local record shop and purchased The Punch Line. I was definitely ready for all that came next...saw them many times all over LA Thanks guys for forming my musical sensibilities at an early age - you guys were my BOC, CCR, Van Halen etc.!
Rolling through the high desert , along with the wind taking its course on my face arms and through my hair. Reflecting over the passed couple years and by god what an impact it had. There’s nothing more to do than keep driving with my face being greeted with the warm wind... I roll on
I heard of these guys a while back. Some dude came to my school, and showed us a documentary on these guys that he made. It was pretty dope. Henry Rollins, and Ian Mackaye were in it. I didn`t think they would be this eclectic. I love it.
Here, Here - one of the best - when I was a kid in '84, they blew me away, still do! Grew up over the hill in S. Torrance, even though BF was closer (Hermosa Beach), Minutemen had me mind, body and soul - I even wished we lived in Pedro so I could be physically closer to them!
punk music change my life this year and it helped me express my anger, I think that if I kept the anger I could have snapped but now I can let go and not give a fuck about what people think. thank you to the punk rock kid in my English class
The humorous aspect is that when I go on a video, I usually gloss over the comments. Here, I found myself reading through and seeing the impact that music like this can have is ridiculous. Millions of views is one thing, an actual impact on a life is another completely. Especially one of emotion that can come to define a time in one's life or nail a feeling that cannot be stated by the individual themselves. As a commenter below me typed out, "Wake up. Heart yanked out. Anchor dragging behind." Welcome to why this music is important, that feeling expressed is beyond value dude.
Christ knows, @Billy Shears. Greatest band in the world, but I still cannot get my greatest friends to 'get' them. Pearls before swine, mate: pearls before swine. Nevertheless, The Anchor is not really a Radio Friendly Unit Shifter.
This is one of the coolest pieces of music ever created. Right? Who sounds like this?? Minutemen sort of remind me of the DOORS. What do you guys think?
Also, they had a crazy work-ethic, I can't compare that with the Doors because I don't know how they were - telling is when Mike says he doesn't he doesn't like the phrase 'I have time to kill'
I love Minutemen and Aphex Twin, That is so funny because I have been listening to The Watt from Pedro show lately, I totally see how they could fit on his show, even emailed him, no reply though :(
I think Georgie said he had this hair because all of his limbs were already doing something and wanted to something visual like Mike and D. got to do. Check out We Jam Econo, I have also heard Mike say something to that extent on his show
Made a dream last night Wish I hadn't awoken Wind blew warm in my face Naked in an Epsom Five beautiful girls robbed me I was so damn bad I was so damn bad I took them on one at a time One at a time Wake up! Heart yanked out Anchor, dragging, behind Anchor, dragging, behind

+Rafael Landi You have raised him well. My brood prefers the Lumineers. I have failed.
Ralph Landi: You've accomplished your mission above and beyond the call of duty, soldier -- I salute you, brother!!
I made sure that my son too was aware of the Minute Men. He has mad respect for these guys! As he should.

every time I wake from a good dream and realize I'm still in my regular shitty life this song pops into my head
Someone fucking explain to me why Minutemen videos don't get millions of views on youtube.
so you surprised that punk isnt mainstream or what

Anchor Dragging Behind
I can't get the bass line out of my head, even 37 years later!
best bassist ever
Classic
there's a Fidelity Investments ad to go with my top tracks for minutemen, fuuuu
uck
I TOOK THEM ON ONE AT A TIME!
Watt brought me here. That bass. Orgasmic.
As well they should have....insanely talented and political without being didactic
R.I.P. D.Boone
George (The Drummer) did have a weird haido though! But your 100% right about the rest. Their awesome!
George wrote these lyrics.
I think Georgie said he had this hair because all of his limbs were already doing something and wanted to something visual like Mike and D. got to do. Check out We Jam Econo, I have also heard Mike say something to that extent on his show
1:37
7 people just don't get it.
Made a dream last night
Wish I hadn't awoken
Wind blew warm in my face
Naked in an Epsom
Five beautiful girls robbed me
I was so damn bad
I was so damn bad
I took them on one at a time
One at a time
Wake up!
Heart yanked out
Anchor, dragging, behind
Anchor, dragging, behind
