I struggle with comparing myself to other artists too; I’m a freshman in high school, 15, and I’m currently doing a still-life water color project for my visual arts class! I’m not as skilled in watercolor so it did help the comparison-feelings a bit, but other than that I was stuck eyeballing everyone else’s work, watching how smoothly they blended their colors and how their application of watercolor was so well done!
I still have a lot of time to learn and improve and study in art, and I most certainly will not give up. I remember a few of your videos where you mentioned art being a never ending journey throughout life, and that’s exactly what I’m gonna follow!

I have basically always loved mythology and the different pantheons, I think it would be so cool to see you make more art of mythological gods or even longer form content like with your dnd inspired art.

That´s how it is! You think others are so much better, while they "cook with water, too"! We always see the results and think we could never achieve that! While it is simply the plus work they put in!
It always leaves me speechless that a super star like you feels intimidated by others´ work! That you don´t have the confidence to lift the world out of her hinges! While creating art that leaves us breathless!

I needed this reminder today. Not so much for art, but for life. I think someone else has it so easy, their life so effortless, but I only see the surface. They'll say, "but I'm paddling like crazy underwater!" Yep.
I think it's important to remember we're all capable of having one sock that keeps bunching up in our shoe sometimes. The rest of the world may not see it, but it happens and it's vexsome.

hey scott... ive been having a rough day my parents dont support my dreams of becoming an artist tjey call me dumb and a failure everyday they say stuff like "kids your age are making millions from videos and courses" or "why do you make crapy drawing when you can make ai art and sell it on etsy or something" when they dont even know what they are talking about i just need some adbice my family doesnt support me my art looks so amateur and the doubt from all the pressure i jusy want to quit but my will doesnt im going insane please help

It's universal.
But if you truly love art.... you'll keep making it. You'll journal. You'll sketch. You'll doodle.
Draw what you see. Not out of your head (not that there's anything wrong with drawing from your imagination... just that you will learn to draw better if you keep drawing what you see).
You do NOT have to go to school for art. You don't have to make a career of art.
You'll know if it's "your thing" if 5 years from now... despite what your parents say. Despite whatever happens in life... you're still making art.
If it still makes you happy... then keep practicing. And if you get to a place where you can support yourself with it... then you've made it.
