I solved it by changing the herts (screen refresh rate). First go to 2:33, then click on"Display adapter properties for Display 2" after having selected display 2 on the top right corner. Then go to the monitor section and reduce / play around with the hertz by lowering it. I lowered it to 48 and it suddenly began working. Hope it helps
Woke up today to my HDMI not working and class to attend, nearly lost it stressing while thinking i messed up my HDMI post. Thanks to your tips it now works. :)
hi idk if something is wrong with either of my devices but monitor keeps saying no signal check connection cable and i literally bought it 10 minutes ago and it dosent show a second display id rlly appreciate some help
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you have a dedicated graphics card, make sure the monitor is plugged into the GPU's output, not the motherboard’s ports. Make sure to also use the monitor's menu buttons to ensure it's set to the correct input source.
I'll share how I fixed my HDMI port that just decided to stop sending a signal to my secondary monitor... I was watching Invincible on my secondary monitor, walked away and when I finally came back to my laptop, when it woke up, the secondary monitor wouldn't come on. I swapped out cables, power cycled it, rebooted my laptop, updated the graphics drivers. Nothing worked. Then I went to the support page for my laptop, updated the BIOS and then it started working again. It's so bizarre. Oh well, at least it works now!
It happened again! My HMDI just peaced out. Found an August update for my BIOS. Applied it and now my HDMI port is working again. I guess this is how Dell alerts me of new BIOS updates.😕
You my friend are a genius, my extended display has not been working since a system update sometime ago and today I thought I would try and look into the problem. I disconnected power and let it rest so that all residual power had diminished, I then unplugged the HDMI cable and plugged it into the second option and BOOM it now works and I just did not think of doing that before watching your video. So I am very grateful for you taking the time to put a very clear and concise video together that has enabled me to enjoy my external screen once more, thank you.
Hi there, thank you for your question! IF you tried all the steps in the video can you provide me with some more information can you turn the laptop on when not plugged into the TYV via hdmi does it still display if it does then its most likely and issue with the port or cable and I would recommend trying a different cable.
Thank your video was very helpful, wasn't picking up any connection to hdmi from laptop to tv after a recent update, I went to Intels website as you advised and installed latest drivers for graphics card and problem solved thanks again!
Hi there, thank you for your question! First check your display settings under Settings > System > Display, and click "Detect" if the second screen isn’t recognized. Then, try reinstalling or updating your graphics driver through Device Manager by right-clicking your graphics adapter under Display Adapters, selecting Update Driver, or choosing Uninstall Device and restarting your PC to reinstall the driver. Also, test a different HDMI cable and port to rule out hardware issues. If the problem persists, consider rolling back the system update by going to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and selecting Go back to the previous version. Lastly, check your GPU control panel (NVIDIA or AMD) to ensure it recognizes the second display.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video I would recommend trying to update the display drivers as this can sometimes cause the issue. If that doesn't resolve your issue I would recommend trying a different screen/cable.
Switching it on and off??? Is that the best you can offer? How about using your platform to make some serious criticism of the lack of standardisation in the IT industry.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video and nothing worked try going to your power options and select change plan settings and change advanced power settings and verify that nothing is conflicting with your HDMI connection.
I've tried steps in this video but still nothing. I connect the hdmi cable from my laptop to my tv and I get the sound that it's connected, but nothing comes up on my tv. but the audio is moved over but I can't hear anything, so now i'm having visual and audio problems. everything was working fine one day and then the next day a few months ago, nothing was working, I swapped out different cable but nothing worked. But yet the cable will work for my ps3 so idk what it is, please help!
Hi there, thank you for your question! Start by pressing Windows + P to adjust display projection settings and ensure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input. Check if the TV is detected under Display settings and test different HDMI ports and cables. For audio, ensure the HDMI device is set as the default in the Playback tab of Sounds. Update your graphics and HDMI audio drivers in Device Manager, then power cycle your devices by turning them off, unplugging the HDMI cable, and reconnecting after rebooting. Adjust the screen resolution to 1920x1080 or another TV-supported resolution. Run Windows troubleshooters for hardware or audio issues, and reset the graphics driver with Ctrl + Shift + Windows + B. Inspect your laptop and TV HDMI ports for damage, and if needed, test with an adapter like USB-C to HDMI. If these steps fail, it may indicate hardware failure in your laptop or TV HDMI input.
Hi I need help.... I ended up deleting my Nvidia graphics driver for resolving black laptop screen.... while I was using hdmi to navigate through black screen, hdmi turned off after deleted nvidia graphics driver now I am stuck on black screen with no idea what to do to start hdmi connection
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try force your laptop to boot into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing keys like F8, Shift+F8, or Esc during startup or using the recovery environment by turning the laptop on and off several times to trigger recovery options. In Safe Mode, open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), check for NVIDIA under Display Adapters, and reinstall the driver by downloading it from NVIDIA’s official website on another device, then transferring it via USB. After installation, reconnect the HDMI cable and restart the system, pressing Win + P to toggle display modes if necessary. If HDMI still doesn’t work, reset the display output by pressing the appropriate Fn + F-key (e.g., F5 or F8) to toggle display modes, or try connecting to an external monitor via VGA or USB-C to continue troubleshooting.
Hi there, thank you for your question! First I would recommend checking to make sure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the laptop and external display, and try a different cable or port to rule out hardware problems. Update the display drivers through Device Manager by right-clicking the graphics card under "Display adapters" and selecting "Update driver." If that doesn’t work, uninstall the driver and restart the laptop to reinstall it automatically. Check your display settings by right-clicking the desktop, selecting "Display settings," and ensuring the external monitor is detected. If it's not, click "Detect." Try restarting the laptop with the HDMI cable already connected, and consider resetting the BIOS to default settings by pressing F2 during startup and choosing the reset option.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned in the video I would recommend making sure you have the correct display settings enabled that allow duplication of the screen.
Mine is worse, laptop monitor died due to water damage. The laptop only worked when connected to TV, but not to monitor, even with the same HDMI cable. Tried again today and now the TV isnt connecting. It shows the boot loading screen and then goes blank. But i can hear the computer respond so i know it has successfully booted
Hi there, thank you for your question! It's most likely that there is water damage in the port itself as when u spilled on your laptop you should leave it to dry without touching it for a days to make sure all the water has evaporated I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance to see if they can fix the issue.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend turning off your laptop. then repeatedly press the F11 key as you restart your laptop. Select “Troubleshoot” and then “System Recovery” and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password as part of the factory reset process.
What the hell if don't know I am mad because if the HDMI no singal problem but I watch 1.46 minus only and my problem is solved try to clear the port and reconnect it will work of port is not damaged
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try pressing Win + P to toggle display modes and ensure the correct one is selected (e.g., "Second Screen Only"). Try boot into Safe Mode (force restart three times to access Recovery Options) to troubleshoot drivers or roll back the display driver via Device Manager. If possible, test another monitor to rule out hardware issues.
Hi there, thank you for your question! These methods should work if they don't then I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! First, ensure secure cable connections between your laptop and the external monitor. Try different cables or ports if needed. Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if possible), hold the power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect and turn it on. If none of those work try resetting your graphics drivers.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If none of the steps worked I would recommend taking it to a professional as its most likely a hardware related issue then.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Is the monitor correctly plugged in? If the monitor is not appearing at all its most likely a connection issue and I would recommend trying a different port or different cable if none of those work it might be an issue with the screen itself or the cable.

Hi there, thank you for your question. If your HDMI connection works with a Samsung monitor but doesn't display on a Dell monitor, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem: Check HDMI Cable and Connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is firmly connected to both the computer's HDMI port and the Dell monitor's HDMI input. Try a different HDMI cable to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable. Monitor Input Source: On the Dell monitor, check that the input source is set to HDMI. Many monitors have multiple input options (e.g., HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort), so make sure the correct source is selected. Computer Graphics Settings: Access your computer's display settings to make sure it is set to extend or duplicate the display to the external monitor. On Windows, you can press Win + P to bring up the display mode options and select the appropriate mode (e.g., Duplicate, Extend). On macOS, go to "System Preferences" > "Displays" > "Arrangement" and choose the appropriate display configuration.
