When i first started going, i had a little Honda 250ex and i was going everywhere just fine, if you want to get there fast a 400 or bigger is a lot better, the Suzuki z400 is what i ride now, and that's is the best quad i've ever rode in the sand.
I think Skat Trak Hooker paddles are the best. You can special order pretty much whatever you want, 5 6 7 8 9 10 12 paddles. Anything you really want and they really hook up! I ran a 10 paddle on a CR500, I felt like the dune king lol.
@erickijams It depends if you don't have paddles make sure you don't stop going uphill. If you stop flat or downhill your fine. The only think that padles do is help acceleration and traction going uphill.
I run an 8cup 120/80-19 geomax, but i rode my buddies bike with a 10cup 120/80-19 and it makes a big difference in your traction and power. You don't have to try as hard to get going with 10 cups.
@Matticawww if it gets in anything its really bad after a day of riding in sand, expecially if u layed it down take it apart and clean everything. real good !
@California267 Yeah dude you're totally good, just make sure you bring a lot of gas and a lot of EXTRA oil and antifreeze so your bike don't over heat. other than that ur good. Now have some fun!
Hey I am 14 and been riding for years and I have a Crf250x which is huge because im only 5-4"but all the 4-strokes that are smaller with green sticker are weak. I have only ridden in the dunes with a quad runner and have no Idea if I should be going like 50mph all the time so I don't sink in or like I can go at different speeds.
you need a new piston when you go, and you're gonna need 10 hours after you're done riding there. 125's are tough to ride, you really gotta bang on em, and they like to melt, since your riding them so hard! I would not recommend taking a 125 to the dunes. get a 250 or 450f.
They don't ride very well in the dunes at all, the two best bikes that i've ever ridden at the dunes are my friends 2010 CR500 Service Honda because nothing beats a 500 and the other is my personal CRF450R, having all the power is completely necessary for the dunes so you don't over work your engine. Also what i did to help my motor run cooler in the dunes was i put a performance water pump on and switched my antifreeze to Engine Ice coolant. Those two make a world of a difference!
@The713Ace Do you know how photoshop works? Photoshopping that intro would be quite a task haha. And yeah I agree with ThaFrody, its legitimate. How could you tell if the wheels are moving from a still image anyways??
Those are some awesome on board shots of the jumps.
i could whatch this all day

What editing software did you use? Please, i just got my new GoPro HD Hero 2 and i cant figure out where to enable slowmotion or editing.
@The713Ace it's 100% bro, the paddles give the wheels a boxy look that make it look like its not moving but it's real.
You got a purdy mouth......lol
Sweet video edit!
Go Huge, get some!
OHHH YEAH
At 2:11 it reminds me of Ronnie Renner off of the GoPro Commercial

250cc two-stokes are the near perfect bike for the dunes.
I rather ride a dirtbike than watch football anytime! :D
sweet
2:39 to 2:48 so gnar like a dolphin.
I AM SO GOING TO GET A DIRTBIKE AND DO THIS :O
No one lives in New York now because mother nature got angered at the people who disliked this video and caused a hurricane ;)
And we have whips, which help a lot.
what kind of front tire do you use for the dunes?
Ive never ridden dunes before can someone explain what the purpose of the flags on the bikes are for?
true

Was that hill you were jumping test hill or patton?

Honestly, not that often. I've been going my whole life, and no one in our group has ever.. Most people have a scouter.
what paddle do you like the most for glamis
i was thinking about using paddle tyres for my bike in the sand...but ive heard they root your gearbox? :/
In the middle of Arizona and Cali

how often do people crash into each other going over the tops of the dunes?
where is glamis located ??
i like the way u think
392 ppl like motocross
@andrew if your on a two stroke idk about a four stroke it won't climb the dunes as well
Golf car looks like a mini cooper

how does a 125 dirt bike ride in glamis? is it good enough to ride the dunes in glamis?
you need a new piston when you go, and you're gonna need 10 hours after you're done riding there. 125's are tough to ride, you really gotta bang on em, and they like to melt, since your riding them so hard! I would not recommend taking a 125 to the dunes. get a 250 or 450f.
