Thank you for a sweet sand dune helmet cam video. So far all I've seen is people just coasting around in sand that's been ridin' on so much it looks like dirt. This was much better.

@geels At the dunes you use a paddle tire. It helps a lot with traction in the the soft sand.

read the questions he answered! knowing which way you are headed at all times will allow you to get back to your truck. the sun only travels across the sky in one direction and it close to the same height all winter long. The big dunes are pretty much in the middle of where most people camp and the stores, so it isnt too hard to get lost in them. head one direction and you will either hit the south road, west boundaries, north sand highway, or the flats to the east. or maybe the channel ha

@MarcusJ00007 There are land marks in the distance to the north, east and west so it's not too tough in the daytime. At night you have to know the dunes pretty well. You begin to recognize certain dunes and bowls.

Southern cali. Either Glamis or Gordens would be good for you then. Gordens seems to always be more technical though. I was raised in the dunes so this is easy, but most track riders find reading the dunes difficult.

@jAkEssSnAkE Souther California has a plethora of dune riding and desert riding. Dumont is a great place, it's about two hours from Las Vegas. Glamis is where he is in this video, close to San Diego, also a great place to ride. There are also places you can ride through just plain desert terrain, which is a nice relaxing ride, in Johnson Valley right outside of Lucerne Valley, CA. Barstow, CA is also an okay place to ride.

aahh that glamis wind, could be you best friend cuz it makes the dunes smooth, and your worst enemy because of sand in your face and getting crosswinds on jumps, love the place, hate the winds, heading out there this weekend, Bad ass vid man

I just started dirt biking and don't know much about them. It's just that I live in the city and we don't have a truck to hull them, and I live about 2 hrs. away from a dirt bike place, so I can't really ride much places other then around my street and some others close by. Awesome dirt bike vid. by the way.

That looks like an amazing ride. No tracks in the sand is the best. I still have never gone to the dunes. I have been in some small ones but I want to get a paddle tire and go to Glamis. My KTM 380SX would be a perfect dunes bike.

@MarcusJ00007 Most people don't go out farther than 10 miles from a road. Also most people in the desert use Desert Tanks for gas, which holds about 4-5 Gallons over the 1-2.5 Gallon stock tanks.

@biodot88 the camera shoots in 5 different settings some are lower quality then others, people record in lower quality settings because it takes up less space on their memory card

  • @whiteowlonfire

@mbran96 because the peaks of the dunes are so sharp, they help you see approaching riders coming up the hill so you don't collide with them. The flag looks a little short on these guy's. the law says you have to have a flag like 8 feet above the ground; but my whip always breaks off my kx for some reason.

@xXLevelCooldudeXx1 With the paddle tire there is really good traction. Only after a the rain do you slide around.
If you are not going fast falling doesn't really hurt. High speed crashes really hurt.

@bugio22 Depends on the type of clutch he's using (Standard vs Auto). If he's using a standard clutch it's going to be a fully manual dirt-bike.
