I was debating between these two about a week ago. I picked the mpa for the slide cuts and it being pvd coated instead of cerakote. Plus it was about 400-500 less than the vudoo.
My first and only 2011 is the DS9 hybrid. Mine is black and gold with a carry magwell and butler cut. It's very cool how it's 1 gun, 1 gunsmith for that kind of price. Definitely want to add to my collection though!
Thanks for this comparison video! Both seem to have their pros & cons, mostly on individual tastes. But, I'm a trigger snob, too, so I should be good either way. 👍👍
Thanks for the deep dive one these two and for your point of view, Skip. You not only have the best looking gun wall on UA-cam lol but as a gunsmith you also get a lot of the guns that we all wonder about coming to you to have work done, so thank you for always taking the time to make these kinds of videos. This is the stuff you won’t hear from all the flashy guntubers that get guns for paid reviews all the time. Just curious….are you gonna Genghis cut the priest, and flush cut and crown the barrel? Idk why, it just feels to me like that’s where that gun is going in the future.
I think that high-end 2011s are all very good. The nuances of each manufacturer and their pistol will not please everyone. I have a number o of these pistols. I simply fell in love with my Hayes, Cobra. I don't know how they do it. There is no recoil., it is as accurate as you are. It fits my hand like it was built in. I have the Titan, the DS9, and the TRS Comp. Skip fixed my trigger on the DS9. Their QC seems to be a bit dicey. I sent it to Skip because MPA did not seem to be very responsive. However, for $3000 it is a great gun. For $3500, the Priest is a dream. I simply feel fortunate to be able to own these. Skip has gone crazy on my Hayes RIA and I cannot wait to shoot it. Mrs. Skips chose the slide color and she has very good taste. I believe it will be a taste of what Skip's 2011 will be. The DNA of the gunsmith lives in every gun he builds or works on.
I just bought the DS9 and didn’t really notice the lack of pushback when the trigger resets until I watched this video, and then read your comment. Was it a quick fix that he did on your DS9 or did you have other work done to it? If so, what? Just curious. Mine is all blacked out including the barrel, but have been thinking of adding a thumb rest and really like the way the bronze color in matte finish he does looks great especially when contrasted with the black grip etc he did on the Priest. In any case, I’m pretty new to all this and feel like I’m just starting on a journey down the rabbit hole lol. Look fwd to your reply if you get a chance 👍
My FFL has been bugging me to get the DS9 but a trigger that doesn’t force your finger home on the reset is the biggest buzz kill of all time. Thanks for pointing that out
The DS9 is amazing. I’ve had two and it was 95% of what my Atlas was if you get the aggressive grip variant. The non-aggressive grip kind of sucks. Amazing company to work with as well. I really want to try a Vudoo as well
I’ve owned 2011 for racing since 96. I have never looked at the grip meeting the frame at the top. Better technique on the trigger versus the trigger pushing your finger forward has been going on for years. Guys that come from Glock style like the push forward off the trigger.
Thank you for the review! I wonder if this one is over SR# 300 or so - they made many improvements around that point. The LOC is the hybrid with additional fitting, steel grip, shielded DAA safeties and a nitro fin. The trigger comes in at 2# and breaks in a bit lower
my god. I have both too. I am literally able to shoot them with the vudoo frame and the MPA slide, and vise versa. seriously. Plug and play between both of them. It honestly made me think. And I just have to say that I love both but the MPA is the one im keeping. Edit: the mpa is the one I’m keeping because I can sell the vudoo faster due to demand, if there was no demand I’d sell the MPA
Yeah mine has the blue on the small parts and the guide rod and reverse plug and had same issue with the guide rod starting having bad marks very quickly and when I spoke with them they said that yeah they are not happy with it either and will not be doing much longer. Which they don't offer the barrel any longer from my understanding of what they told me.
Love the attention to detail review. I’m sure you answered a lot of people’s questions in which one to get if can only have one. I know you answered mine .
hey brother.. was on your website looking at that sick all0y grip.. have you done a video on it? what is the traction like? i lean on the heavy size for my preference.. that thing looks sick, would leave it plain, w my HC 5"
@SkipsGunz your a bad ass and so smart with 2011 I love how you say it how it is I appreciate your honesty great vids and I'm coming to you for my first 2011
Hi Skip i hav e left a couple comments over the last few days about vudoo and mpa.I may be leaning towards vudoo after this video.I have a couple ? 1st is which grip has the larger circumference? As in wider pretty much and can you put an extended slide stop on the vudoo?. Triggers are close but i like the idea of the trigger pushing your finger forward.I had an issue with one of my guns triggers not pushing your finger forward and resulted in trigger freeze basically. I always shoot really fast and short stroke the trigger sometimes. I had a spring put in it that pushed your finger forward a little and actually like it.I think i shoot faster with the trigger pushing back against my finger. With the vudoo also do you activate safety by accident when you don't want causing the trigger not to fire? I have heard that with mpa. They are both nice and about equal.Trigger pull weights seem the same also.
Excellent Comparison that I greatly appreciate you bringing to fruition… these are two pistols that I have been considering for Optics Limited… I was leaning towards the Vudoo Priest due to hearing about a lot more issue’s with the MPA DS9. I do really like the Slide cuts on the DS9 Slide myself over the simple serrations on the Priest but prefer everything else about the Vudoo Priest. If I order an Priest through your dealership Scott, am I able to request a Full length dust cover Priest in DLC with Silver Parts, 2.5lb Trigger, Flush and Crown barrel, Competition Blend, E2 Cheely grip with hybrid texture , wide shielded ambi-safeties and RMR cut? I am also wondering if I would still be able to use the Vudoo layaway program they offer through your dealer, with those custom options ?
They recently changed the website, so a lot of the old options are no longer shown… which is why I was asking Scott if I could order to those specifications from Vudoo.
Thank you both for the information.@@SkipsGunz so to clarify, I would just basically do the order through you (meaning there is no need to order from Vudoo directly), you would order/receive the pistol, make any adjustments we discuss, then send to my FFL? Then would all the payments be made to SkipsGuns? I appreciate the info on this process, I’ve never done a purchase this way before
Love the channel? $5k to work with which 2011 you are going with 🙏 For reliability accuracy and low recoil There’s Soooo many too choose from It’s killing Me smh 🤦♂️ 😂

Besides the way the SRO sits on the Voodoo I like the MPA Better in a different color combination
Love my MPA DS9!!! Incredible fit and finish. Trigger is awesome. Grip is sweet. Insanely accurate.

There nice guns happy to have u on the team
I love my DS9. Had a year and a half, and it has to be the best bang for buck in the 2011 game.
Both of these will find there way into my collection.
From experience they are both absolutely worth it!

Learn to bend the sear spring and you could fix that in less than 2 minutes.
I got this question on my priest video, glad to see your comparison
I had the request so many times I had to make it happen lol 😂

I’m definitely a Vudoo guy but I love options
I read somewhere it was called Hybrid because it came with irons but was Optic ready. Don't know if this is true or not.
What about the way they shoot, which has more felt recoil, for example.
Hybrid is in reference to the optics plate and options you have with it.
Yeah mine has the blue on the small parts and the guide rod and reverse plug and had same issue with the guide rod starting having bad marks very quickly and when I spoke with them they said that yeah they are not happy with it either and will not be doing much longer. I would do the Vudoo
Do a caparison between a 5 inch prodigy you did and another 2011 vudoo priest, mp ds9 , or legion precision.
Hey Skip ,have you ever tried Toni maxwells. A learning curve for gripping with them But holy cow awesome magwell.
Just what I was looking for. just wondering, did you get the priest with your own dime? or were these both sent by companies / friend like the MPA?
any chance u can do the MPA vs Atlas Athena? i own a MPA & i love it...very smooth but have been looking at the Athena
is there any real way to get 2011 plates to stay on the slide besides rockset?
I would love to see you do a review on the Live Free Armory Apollo 11
Does the vudoo slide to frame fit have any wiggle room?
No sir I’m a dealer and have held many there all like the same gun.
If interested let me know let’s order one
@@SkipsGunz I actually just bought one from their custom shop. Won’t arrive until, around 6 months from now.

Hey brother, I just got a DS1911 from GP Arms. How can I tell if my guide rod is tool-less or not. Thanks!
So if u take slide off push it foward and see if there’s a lever or button on it to push to hold the spring compressed
what's the price of doing a port and pvd coating on my staccato p xseries
Www.skipsguns.com
I'm really liking the Vudoo , great video
What holster does it fit
Any 5”
A holster that fits the Staccatto XC will do it.
I chose MPA because I liked its looks better and because of David Lyell.
I love my Vudoo rifle but would rather have my MPA pistol over a Priest.
I can respect that my opinion though is the priest is the nicest gun for money out honestly
Just picked up a S2C 🔥🥃🇺🇸
