    Hi Andy, being a runner with various chronic injuries over the decades, I would suggest like I did, draw the line regarding the expensive therapies. Your body will heal naturally, it's just frustrating it can take so long, trust me, I have been there countless times. Self massage, ice / heat, correct stretching and footware and cross training will clear this up. I had injections in my heal. Didn't work for me but I know others it did the trick. Your experience, fitness, willpower and the day itself will get you through the races. I've done that too 😊. Keep at it, you will get through this period. 👍👍

      @@alldone1116 Hi Tony, thanks for watching - and for your advice and encouragement😊Until she pressed firmly on that spot last Tuesday, I really felt it was getting better. It’s so hard to know what to do, especially when you’re part way through a treatment programme, I’m 50/50 on continuing. I intend to complete the 10K and 1/2💪😊

    This heel issue does sound like a nightmare. It's one area I've not had trouble with yet, so I can't offer much advice. Let's hope the lasers work 🤞
    At least you got recognised with your youtube fame! 😊

      @@markg99 Hi Mark, it certainly is, I went to a podiatrist first (last November) and diligently followed a detailed stretching and exercise plan for 3/4 months but the improvement was minimal. That’s why I tried laser treatment. Tight calves can lead to PF and will inhibit recovery I’ve read. There’s so much advice out there on PF it’s overwhelming😩

    @RunFreeandStrong Місяць тому +1

    Andy, as you know, I had severe PF many years ago and had to take 2 months completely off from any running. When I recovered, I started with 1-mile jogs on grass. It's probably the most difficult to heal running injury (the other being stress fractures, which I've also had). I empathize and you've managed to run and race through it. You'll be ready for your 10K.

      @@RunFreeandStrong Thanks Reto, I think it might be healing, it’s just a slow process. I’m considering replacing my Tue/Thu runs with extra gym activity, I did 1.6km on the alpine ski trainer yesterday (similar to running but lower heel impact) and my heel is not too bad today. I’ll do every event, I just might not perform to my best, I’m hoping the alpine ski will help to fill the gap😊Thanks for your continued support Reto😊

    I had a really bad sleep of PF a few years ago. I walked sideways down the stairs like a crab, it was so painful! I used a spiky roller under the foot, wore a compression sock overnight to keep the foot stretched and stretched my calves and worked on my glutes as much as I could. When I feelit flare up again, I know what to do. I also used a slant board to help stretch and strengthen - well worth the investment. Hope it's on the mend mate and you can get to Manchester healthy!

      Thanks Ian, I have had PF before but that was around 2016 and I just cycled and swam for a year to cure it. This time it’s a bit random, occurring after I cancelled my MCR 1/2 last Oct due to COVID (no issues in the training block🤔). PF started when I restarted running a month later, which I began gradually. Anyway the laser does seem to have helped, but it’s complicated, I think that tight calves (and maybe glutes) are a contributing factor. I’ve got London 10K in about 2 weeks and Manchester in about 6😬. Are you doing MCR? Thanks for the sub if it was your good self😊

      @@AndyCliffMTB the physio I went to basically said I had a lazy glute (bit rude I thought) and that that in turn meant that everything else was having to work harder to compensate, particularly my calves. Often, where the pain is is not where the problem is. I switched to Altra shoes for about 2 years and that also really helped - I've been able to switch back to other brands now. I'm down south, near Reading, so Manchester is a bit far for me! One day I'd like to do the marathon though!

      @@IRunDaily Interesting, I didn’t realise Altra would be a good option, I thought they were trail type shoes, minimal cushion🤔Glutes, I wonder if they might be driving all this🤔

      @@AndyCliffMTB they're zero drop, but foot shaped so your toes can spread. I'd start by wearing a pair to just walk around in as it will make your calves work more. Check out Tom Merrick and search for his running stretch routine. That's a solid routine that has some glute stretches that will help.

    Forgot to add. The pressure point on the heal was it the side, underneath or the back. A scan will show this. PF attachment to heal point. Bone spur crack in the heal. Had all of the above and I'm still running 31 years so far 😊

      @@alldone1116 Hi Tony, I’d say it’s in the centre of my heel (underneath). I’ve also seen that the plantar fascia goes up into the calf and tight calves will lead to / prevent healing of PF. Thanks for your time and advice😊

      Thanks Both, I have had PF before and it took a year to go away so I think we're getting there after 9 months....:( I did consult a podiatrist and also have a Phits gait and foot analysis last Nov). The first idea was orthotics but I wasn't keen on what that entailed. The 2nd option was exercises (which I did for 3/4 months). The last option was where I am now, laser is being done at the podiatrist clinic. It felt good until last Tuesday. You'll see from my comment back to Reto about my new approach to gaining/retaining fitness ahead of these races:)
