Parkrun - It's Your Birthday😀 (At The Wammy)🎉🥳🍾
Would you believe it, Parkrun was 20 years old on the 2nd of October. And I'm on the tourist Parkrun trail once again, getting closer to the so-called Cowell award (100 Tourist Parkruns) and having to head further afield as I try and find ones I have not yet experienced. Beauitiful weather, perfect running conditions but because of road closures, I almost missed it!

My first time at London Vitality 2024 and what a day! I'd been looking forward to this race for months and it seemed that the weather had other ideas as the forecast was terrible and looked like it'd be a complete washout but as you'll see the gods were smiling on us and we had a great day. Fantastic support from the crowds, great race build up and a brilliant atmosphere.

@@alldone1116 Hi Tony, thanks for watching and thanks for your advice and confidence in my ability to get these done😊I’m done with the laser now, I’ll just let it heal itself. It’s 10 months now since it started so last time it took 12 months so let’s hope 2025 is a fresh start🙏You’re right about races and crowd support but no matter what I’ll focus on enjoying the moment😊

Hi Andy, you'll do well and should run 52 minutes for the Vitality 10K and sub 2 hours for the Manchester Half (I would estimate better time, but as you said it's roughly equal to your weekly mileage). Do you see an opportunity post these 2 races to consider taking 2-4 weeks completely off to let the heel heal? Best wishes for your continued recovery.

@@RunFreeandStrong Hi Reto, thanks for your advice and support as ever, well, for London, 52 would be great but I’ll be happy with sub-55. And Manchester, I very much doubt sub-2, I was hoping for 2:00-2:15 last October but I’d put in some solid training at that point. Regarding rest, I might have to do that, certainly no more laser😊

It might be cheaper to buy your own laser at this rate 😅 Not that it seems to be working particularly well...

@@markg99 Hi Mark, the thing is, I’ll never know if it helped because I struggled from Nov-Jun without improving🤔It’s cost me about £450 now, no more laser now, it was worth a shot😢

I reckon you'll get a good enough time in London, so long as the heel holds out. Manchester is a different matter, if you decide you're fit enough to go then maybe just soak up the atmosphere and forget about time. At the risk of stating the obvious, neither race is worth making your injury worse, so go easy.

@@clare9695 Thanks Clare, good advice, the thing is that it’s not been too bad the last week or so and fine at last weekend’s Parkrun but it seems to be slightly uncomfortable after the laser treatment. I’ll be icing after London and I will take it easy in Manchester, I feel like I should do it as I had to cancel it last October because I caught COVID🙁

Great time Andy well done. Looked a great spot. Good to see the reduced running hasn't completely obliterated your fitness and the other stuff your doing is clearly helping. Not been to many where there are multiple finish funnels and when I have, it's really confused me but that really doesn't take much haha

@@TheRunningWhale Cheers Craig, the running conditions were ideal, the drizzle helped😊I’ve been doing a longer Monday gym session for the last few weeks and that may have helped but you can’t replace actual running🙁I know they do operate 2 funnels but I think there was only one that day (just over 600 runners).
