VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Matt and Missy have a similar story to so many others. They did all of the things they were "supposed" to do. They went to college, got good jobs and bought a house, but they just didn't feel fulfilled. In January, they decided to make a change, so they rented out their home and bought this incredible Toyota Coaster. There are only 5 of them in the U.S and this one is a seriously vintage, thing of beauty. It's a right side driver with a really well known engine and incredibly low miles even though it was built in the 90's. They're currently traveling in it in its original state and plan on doing updates once they've decided on what they need and how they like to live on the road. They're another example of not needing things to be perfect to get on the road if that's what you really want.

Sometimes it's best to think outside of the box! This couple purchased a totally unique bus to start their conversion and has been working great for them. Are you considering something like this?
yea the van is nice. did i miss how they acquired it? did they import it in or was it already here?
@@lillypatience we bought it through JDM car and motorcycle out of Seattle. They currently have it's twin except with a shower unit and less miles. Tell Eli we sent you! 😉
@@melissamitchell5898 Awesome, thanks!
@@lillypatience this coaster was sold buy our company jdm car and motorcycle llc 😊
Classic. I remember riding those in Japan. The card reader said. 1.please put in the toll card. 2. The total is 83620yen. Ur fav San pun is 3min.
If I didn’t have four closets of clothes that I can’t part with that I don’t need I would do that in a heartbeat, that’s got to be a relaxing way of life. Good for you guys!!!!! Maybe one day? Lol
Watch George Carlin's bit on stuff.
I have driven a vehicle with the steering wheel on the right side. Doesn't take too long to adapt. But, you may get lots of stares from other drivers.
He was talking about the rarity of these in the states and I was thinking I saw one just like theirs at a dealership in Seattle, and it sounds like it's the one they bought. Definitely can't go wrong with the quality and build of a Toyota, and especially with those low miles it'll be running for their adventures for a long time.
The tear drop on the front is what the elderly put on the vehicle so other drivers know they are elderly and will be going slowly
A little inside joke 😉
Just came across one for sale in Jax FL and watching to get a look at the interior. Great machine awesome home💜
Finally a van I can relate to...good for Jamaican roads.
saw this van on craigslist last year. Glad someone pulled the trigger. Looks like a great rig.
That is the cutest bus ever! It is great you both can live on the road and on one income.
I knew she was in HR even before she said it, she has that HR vibe.
Talks like Toby from the office man
@@blakebennefield2259 😂😂😂😂
Unique look bus, gem for these two and their dogs.
If my rusty Japanese is any good, I think the first sentence is "please insert your card" and then I think it says "the mileage is 83,620 kilometers" and I honestly can't tell what the last bit is. I haven't lived in Japan in 20 years so this might be wide of the mark.
Awesome! Thanks!
@@memitchell84 You're welcome! Love the bus!
@@vanarchism @Matt Mitchell (subscriber living in Japan now!) The last one sounds like "san pun" which means 3 minutes....not sure what is three minutes tho! lol
Great and beautiful
Thanks for another great tiny home tour.
That Toyota is very nice. Wish they would produce an updated version, and market it in the U.S.
Happy Camping
Nice bus conversion, very similar size to our Optare Alero (ex 16 seater bus) Enjoy your freedom, ours will be on the road before the end of this year in Europe.
Can’t wait to do this
Awesome! Love the idea of having something out of the ordinary.
I'm glad Missy cheered up ever so slightly towards the end!!
Helen Green. Ugh. What a ridiculous comment. Like Missy was any different than Matt! They both seem like easy going, go-with-the-flow people. You sound just like one of those sexist men who tell women to smile more. Ugh.
@@kathyannk my thoughts exactly. We both watched a clip and said to ourselves "oh, we should have smiled more!" But for some reason all the comments are directed at Missy. Hmm.
We smile and laugh a lot in real life, I promise. We're not super used to the camera. 🤷♂️
I got to hang with these two for a day during the shooting of this and I can confirm that they both are pretty smiley people in general. Being on camera is not always comfortable. I thought they did great and they were a genuine pleasure to hang out with and get to know.
@@wildsage thanks Sage! I trust your streak is still intact? 🚿
Matt Mitchell I broke it on day 45! Smoke was so bad here right after you left that we stayed at a friends house for a few days and I got like 3 showers in!
This will be a great rig to renovate
Love it. Its great the way it is
Awesome vehicle
三番=Sanban=number 3 / San is 3 and ban is number(bango)
Love it.
Really beautiful 🚌 😍❤️
Too dogs and an open toilet---no thanks!!! Love the rig though. Good job, guys!!!
Haha. We use the toilet for #1 only and the urine system is sealed. Dogs are a bonus for us. 🤷♂️
Matt Mitchell so if you have to go #2 where do you go? I have no way of knowing when that will happen! I love the rig. Looks really comfy.
@@jojoply when we're in the woods we dig a hole. When we're in town we'll find a coffee shop, gas station etc. Its certainly a daily necessity but it hasn't really been a big deal.
Your dogs close the toilet after they go? I'm going to have to talk to mine.
Love this
Actually this toyota coaster Camping Saloon mini Motorhome made only by Toyota company!! 100% stock
They use many different diesel engines

Woah was this the Toyota Camper for sale on JDM car and motorcycle's website in Seattle?
Beep Beep🚌💨💨💨💨💨I like it👍🏿
I love good vintage user friendly design
Toyota's in general stand the test of time.
& Japan is brilliant at design of most everything . How great 2 B able 2 get 2 your engine from the. N side w/ just lifting. Da lid ( dodge RV's) a similar design.
I used 2 own a 1996 Chevy RV if I needed 2 prime the carburetor I had 2 remove TWO skirts that even if I didn't have a ridiculous amount of stuff stored in Da passenger's. seat I had 2 spin each seat 45% 2 get. Da skirts off . oops I went off!
anyway
Thank U for a good tour.💕🚎
Cool rig
sweet truck base!...but i'd totally gut the interior and rebuild it like a wooden sailboat. :)
Douglas Harley nice thing is that it is in workable shape now, but so would I.
Hi Douglas, I have one of these that has been fitted out by a boat builder and looks like a yacht inside. Mine is the long wheel base deluxe model and has a tad more length to it then this fine example. I call it my land yacht. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
@@matildaadventurer41 sweet!!!...you should post a viddeo so everyone can admire your land yacht. :) peace
Douglas Harley one day I will, Douglas. ✌🏼
@@matildaadventurer41 lol, what's stopping you? it don't gotta be perfect...
I want one just because it's different ..!!
Awesome vehicle. How much headroom in there?
It's only 6ft so Matt's head brushes the ceiling but it's soft so there's some give. 🙂
Love your rig's platform. Where did you find your coaster? I'm very interested in considering it for a build-out here in the US.
JDM Car and Motorcycle in Seattle. They have another one for sale currently!
@@memitchell84 Thank you
That bus would be great if you're a rural mail carrier. 😜
Cool
nice bus enjoy your travel be safe
There is an app that you can download to translate what your van is saying...lol!
I wonder if you could get one of these guys already gutted.
Most are passenger busses so you can buy them, remove the seats and build it out.
@@melissamitchell5898 yes only passenger have longer base but more was available with manual transmission
Hi

This van would tops here in the uk.
There's other van built on the same platform first used the china health authorities which had fold out stage wall a sort of walk in help centre which now would used as sundeck large Lounge area

01:28 & 02:06 whats the name of song ???
👍👍👍👌♥️
Thats pretty dang small
It’s actually not small at all when you are in it. We have fit tons of people in it and are able to sit comfortably.
I just wish Toyota built a bigger delivery van. All we have to choose from is that nasty euro crap. Mercs, Fiats and Renaults are total garbage. Toyota reliability is second to none.
