As an SC fan I’m over the Riley Era it’s been nothing but underwhelming and defense letting too many big plays happen granted much cred to Penn State for making plays and being consistent in crunch time.
Had concerns after that Minnesota game and I was right to have them, I don’t even see a 6 win season at the moment
USC beat LSU handily earlier in the season. Their season didn't come off the rails until Big Ten play started. If USC played the way they did against Penn State yesterday, they would have beaten virtually every team in the Top 25 except for maybe two or three. It took a courageous effort by Drew Allar and the Penn State defense to preserve the perfect season.

The media always creates a narrative. USCs defense is night and day from last year. The defense is YOUNG and the transfer players they got are a bandaid to their overall lack of depth on the line, hence why they cant get to the quarterback.
Riley has ALWAYS had a mobile quarterback. Hes always had a playmaker not a game manager. And thats what Moss is. He relatively found out pretty quick the offense isnt the same with the QB being a non factor with his legs. So in essence, this is a team that runs the ball better than they do throwing it. So youre telling a guy whose always had a Top 3 offense to stop throwing and start running? Yeah good luck making that adaptation mid season with your back against the wall, let alone scrapping your identity. Its tough. Thats why even tho the run is working- he reverts back to passing. Your asking a cat to be a dog. Those are called growing pains.
His game managing is questionable to say the least, but the reality is, USCs receivers have been inconsistent, the line has improved the last 2 games but they were terrible to start, and Moss simply isnt the QB.
Franklin said it best.. at the end of the game, his players simply made the plays, USC didnt. Moss at the end of the game missed an open 6'6 receiver, kicker missed. At some point, these USC players have to look at themselves in the mirror. Its not on Riley.
all that. this doesn’t change the fact that lincoln has 0 playoff wins and won’t win a championship in the B1G. he wanted to reschedule the LSU game let alone cancel it. he’s living off his side of the ball being dominant while still blowing game management decisions

USC lacks depth. People blame Reilly for the loss, but it's really about the depth of the team. First team looks good, but as you saw yesterday, despite his best effort to prop up the defense with backs, and rotating defense, there's a big dropoff once you get away from the starters.
Lincoln Riley destroyed 2 programs.
Most people will be blaming Riley for USC's loss,. Yes its a little on Riley because he's the HC, but the real problem is our QB. Miller Moss is not the QB we thought he would be. He started off real good last year at the Holiday Bowl, then started to decline more & more every game. Moss is not a starter, he's just a solid backup QB. Riley just haven't found his QB yet, but maybe it's Maiava, but Riley won't start him in the middle of the season. Benching Moss will may him look desperate, but if Moss loses to Maryland, its guarantee he will get benched cause the season it over, he gave Moss a chance, & it's time to look for another QB. One that's mobile that can run out since our O-line can't protect.
He’s the HC. It’s his responsibility to address the depth
As a usc fan, I’m done. Lincoln is a snake oil salesman and his decisions in late games continue to be absurd. He is a fantastic OC and nothing more. 3 years was enough to learn the same lesson. Fire him and see if you can pry Urban, Saban or Pete Carroll out of retirement.
You should understand your team is in year 1 of a rebuild
@@theread3480 homie this isn’t the nfl, just cause Caleb was a star doesn’t mean losing him makes our team a rebuild team. Lincoln is on pace to lose more games each season he’s been a coach at usc. That’s not rebuilding, that’s regressing.

@@ejay30 Good QB coach at best… certainly don’t trust his playcalling/game management especially late in close games. I wouldn’t want him as OC. That RPO offense is all finesse, soft and predictable.
I will watch usc but we are a mid team with maybe two nfl players. That’s it.
