But it has 2 good features, 6 speed Torque converter gear box not a doubtful CVT? and a genuine Hand Brake, not one of those potentially lethal electric park brakes, even Scotty Kilmer has picked up on that one.
the engine sound on the cx-3 is truly dreadful...a high pitched whine...since when did this happen? My civic from 2006 Is quiet by comparison, no high pitched noise at all.
Thanks for the impartial review. I would have chosen Kia……….. but I can’t foresee myself driving around in a puffer fish lookalike car. So I’m going for the Mazda despite all of its imperfection
Great review gents of these glorified hatchbacks as compact suv is an oxymoron that just doesn’t apply here - the Rio and 2 hatches that sit below these marketing team creations are cheaper, probably have the same level of space and are just as able if not more fun on the road - I’d be interested to see performance figures as the CX3 should be much faster and either as a manual fwd or AWD auto would be the better car imho but I’d actually buy a manual or auto 2 and save my $
Unfortunately both vehicles have very inefficient normally aspirated old engines that provide lousy performance. This is a result of Australia not having vehicle fuel standards so car companies are dumping all the old gas guzzling engines in Australia. These same cars are all equipped with 1.0 liter turbo mild hybrids in Europe
Tested comprehensively both. Bought the Mazda CX3
Mazda is the clear winner!.
- 6 speed auto.
- More reliable
- Save gas
test drove a kia stonic gt-line mild hybrid dc7 the other day. in sports mode this car is awesome to drive. so good in fact i'm buying one
Both jacked up versions of models in the makers portfolios. I would buy the non SUV model in the case of Mazda, the 2.
How is kia resale value compared to cx-3 after 4 years?
I probably will have to take the Kia stonic because i love Kia and I have a Kia stinger GT
I loved the justification of your reasoning

Really enjoy the side by side review, worked well with two presenters. Now do a Audi Q5 v BMW X3
stonic its really fun to drive and lot of space

Yay I just bought a Stonic so this review makes me happy

The Mazda still looks like a puffer fish

No they are not. Mazda does not make a turbo model of the CX-3.
