46, discovered Hiwatt’s channel 2019 and very much appreciate his inside look into “the process” of producing these legendary industrial albums. I was a bit surprised to see he utilizes quite a bit of same gear I have acquired over the years. I manage to capture that sound, yet no one wants to hear an industrial cover band. I suspect to make it in this genre you have to evolve and create a new sound atmosphere as unique as Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, or Haujobb has established. Best of luck and Godspeed to all those attempting this endeavor. You’re in good company sir.
One thing a lot of people don't notice about Skinny Puppy is that underneath all the harshness is a lot of beauty and softness to contrast all the aggressive stuff. Even their newer LP's are still better than most wanna-be Industrial bands. Thanks, Ken, for putting this lovely mix together, it's very inspiring! Love live the Pup!
Ohh man your so right ! Even me myself notice this thing years agou 😶. They have maaany layers on their strings! So much love and suffering... fuck !! - my life turnd out to be as almoust every songs they'v made 🕴🗣👀 when i look back in my past memory.! (im 49 know) And a stupid Swedish thinking back then that i knew it all!!!! Well... i didn't knew a shit..... Death took me 5 thimes sens then. The good stuff is that i no longer fear death 🥳 and i always have my Skinny Puppy/Ogrh. Love to U all out there...
W O W! "Boom... Better just quit for the day man." I love that feeling, when you know it doesn't get any better than this. Such a moving and powerful piece of music!
funny story i had this hum noise in my studio the past couple weeks driving me nuts turns out it was a led light bulb.i was playing in the dark last nite and it was gone.hmmm.well back to the old warm bulbs and no noiuse.
Hey There Holy HiWatt! So good to see and hear you again Sonic Sensei. We’re listening to this and watching the Northern Lights on our 25 anniversary weekend in Iceland. Thank you so much for adding the perfect soundtrack to a perfect experience. The world is so fortunate to have true bards like yourself. You’re a gift. Have a happy Halloween!!
I'm definitely adding this to my TGWOTR folder, thanks Ken! Some years ago, I made my own 2CD set of TGWOTR Live DVD and the tracks from that show are still the "go to" versions in my audio playlists!
HELLYEAH! The Greater Wrong of the Right is still such a fucking masterpiece of layering and production - it's insane to hear elements of this song that are familiar be twisted in these new ways! This was absolutely beautiful, Ken, and very cool! Sent shivers down my spine!
Amazing as always. It's crazy the amount of sounds that sometimes get hidden or drowned out in the final mixes. Fortunate to be able to get a more keen insight into the behind the scenes world, thanks to Ken "the man" Marshall. 😛 Also, I noticed that you had the front of your Tascam reel to reel taken off. I have never used reel to reel, but started off with a more portable model Tascam 4 track. What reasons did you need to take off the front face/cover for? Thanks Ken!
I have thoughts on it. It's criminally underfeatured for the price. I have a pretty in-depth overview of it on my channel, uploaded during its formative years, when it was very popular.
❤️
I’m 43 but I still wanna be Ken Marshall when I grow up.
Same
If it’s any consolation, I’m 50 and have the same dream! He is a bit of a sonic unicorn tho 😂
me too

DaddyuWarbash is my favorite song of Puppy's reincarnation. This is a beautiful take on that track.
Wow. Yeah. Boom! That sums it up.
God damn, what great version.

I suspect there was a crash. Instead of getting angry at a machine.... leave it. I like that better.
that pad is a total ear candy. wow.
just woke up to my 2 fave tings.
Made the hairs on my arm stand up!
Sounds so freaking good
It's nice there's a pool of SP to delve into that Is not etched to memory.
Ken "Hiwatt" is the 4th element !! this intro is awesome!! 🤩
Hiwatt, you rule. Thank you for this.
Quit for the day is right.... That was a work of beautiful art. Emotions flowing, tears held.
Prefer this version
gobsmacked at the beauty of this piece. Without a word of a lie, Mr Marshall, you are one of my studio heroes.........

Interesting. I'd love more details. So it was studio ambient noise, or actually in the audio chain?
In the place of safety I am fortunate to be alive.
Dude this mix is fucking sexy.
How has it been 18 years...crazy
Crushing. Phenomenal 🤯
stunning. i'm filled with gratitude.
Love this stripped back version. So relaxing hearing this. Thank you again, Ken!
Magic!! Thank you, Ken!

quick question. do you have any thoughts on the TORAIZ SP-16?
