Trying out my new 2022 shimano metanium shallow spool on my shimano expride B bfs in Amsterdam seeing how light it will cast and catching a few fish along the way
Hey man, interesting video as usual! I would like to buy an Aldebaran BFS from Japan to Belgium, do you know how much it would cost me in taxes etc to have it imported on top of the base price? Thanks!
Not sure if I already asked, but how is this reel holding up? I have considered getting one, just really really wish they had a clicking drag. Either way, my main concern is the aluminum gears, not sure to get this one or just get the regular version with brass gears and put 2/3 a spool braid backing...
Hi . It's holding up fine just like day 1 . They say it's as strong but if that's your concern you can always get the kkr shallow spool from aliexpress for the 2020 model . Id like that one in future because I love the colour. I also wish it had a drag clicker haha
Bro. Im relocating to aalsmeer from south africa Love your vids we should fish together. I saw you when i was in amsterdam a few weeks ago. You zipped passed on your bike.
Hey mate. I seriously consider buying this reel because of the shallow spool. I want to pair it with my 3-16 grams rod. Do you think that it will be a good match? I don't think to use lures lighter than 4 grams on it anyway.
Beautiful reel, and dont listen to that dude saying "its only for skipping", that is complete BS 😂, its simply a shallow spool metanium for increased performance with lighter lures, which just happens to also increase performance of any technique reliant on inertia such as skipping haha. Its not even trying to be a bfs reel, as per Shimano Japan its to bridge the gap between bfs and the standard metanium, which it does pretty well, doesn't cast very far though but good enough haha.
Yeh man I didn't pay to much attention haha . And that exactly what I got it for . Great for 5 - 30g for me and I don't need a deep spool with added wieght for bank fishing. I also have a bfs spool for it now for less than 5
@@NetfishnChill i would do it to haha the BFS is more the UL game 😁 Im lookin for a DC reel now these things are crazzyyy how they perform out at the water the casting distance is quiet the same as a spinning reel
@@ReelyCatchy100 yeh man. I've had the curado dc for a while but tbh never use it anymore it's just to big and heavy after the curado mgl and now this reel . One I am interested in is the new slx xt 71 that's probably the only one I'd get personally atm... if you wanna curado dc you can buy mine 🤣
I honestly cannot remember now it was such long ago but I use it with 2 brakes only I'm not sure if it had changed it before or afterwards to be honest but I know with 2 it still doesn't perform amazing with stuff like sub 4g
Although i know what you're trying to do, the purpose of the Shimano 22 Metanium Shallow Spool Edition is actually made for skipping, not really gears towards BFS, that's why the spool is not light (the physical weight of the spool) at all it's still pretty heavy in terms of BFS spool, if you want BFS capability you should upgrade the spool to a shallower and lighter (weight of the spool). But that just my opinion and some of Shimano's Pro Staff opinion, it's your reel you can do whatever you want
Yes so you know I was just testing it's lower casting capabilities on the original spool because I seen no one else do it but youtubers claiming its casts 3.5g even 1.8 just by unboxing it so I had to test for myself. I plan to by the kkr spool and use it's on my lighter rods in future but since this only time I tried it on a bfs rod I use it on ml and m rods
@@NetfishnChill Don't worry, i've have try it myself as well on a ML action rod and the lowest lure weight i can cast for a fishable distance is a 1/8oz or roughly about 3g
@@leepao6302 yeh I think much lower than 3-4g it's losing accuracy more than anything that's what I had experienced . I'm hoping with the kkr 3g will be great that's all I want it for really 3g and up
Ahh finally found a video of the shallow spool metanium video testing out how light it can go. Answered some questions for me. Thanks!
Happy to help dude hopefully it answered your questions
Hi great video. Which gear ratio is Yours Metanium shallow edition?
Hi, thanks, it's the HG model that's what I choose for all my reels as it's a nice all round ratio
Great stuff man, casting those lures with that reel! And you're catching a lot bro, awesome!
Thanks man appreciate it 🙏
Nice setup mate 👍 when I was in Amsterdam I stayed near oosterpark , can that lake be fished ??
Thanks man . And no it's not allowed. Thinks maybe there's the odd carp there if that
Good reel, I have one pair up with Shimano majestic bfs rod! A pleasure for bfs fishing!
It is awesome 👌 enjoy

Hey man thabks allot ...it's plus like 21 percent tax plus import fees . If you ask japanlureshop or digitaka nicely they might give a low invoice
Keep up the good work bro!👊🏽👊🏽
Thanks allot man really appreciated 🙏

Hey man its definitely a awesome reel . If you don't plan to throw less then 4-5grams then it should be fine I use it mostly like 5-30g

bro ..can this shallow spool metanium fit to bantam mgl 2022?
Apparently new model has different spool size but I cannot confirm
