I read that the local PD was responsible for perimeter and buildings. Basically things that are manpower intensive, and are likely to interact with the public and may need to effect an arrest.

I am a 5'-7" man and I have been good a fitting into small places my whole life, except now that I have expanded a bit. I would have no place in trying to cover a person that is nearly a head taller than me. Those women had no place in being in position to cover Trump like that, perhaps they would have been fine for other tasks, but not being in a position to physically cover an asset. We have so lowered the standards in this country for so many jobs that we are putting people's lives in danger because of concern over hurt feelings.

"stripped own secret service detail". = small statured females that cannot holster their weapon under stress, getting very nervous after an even they failed and an inability to physically shield their primary, because the primary is an adult male that is significantly taller.
He already self protected before secret service got on stage. There was a cop supposedly on the roof going after the shooter but he pointed his gun and the cop retreated a local cop was saying but secret service didn't notice?
