Amazing, this is the exact sewing machine I use. 1938 Singer. I inherited it 40+ years ago. I clean and oil it myself. Yes, with this machine you can sew over pins. Elaine Lockett is a super quilter. You make it appear so easy. Thanks for sharing all those tips. We never stop learning. I have been making quilts for at least 50 years now. Always learning.
When she said "my shoulders really hurt" 🥺I wish I could hop through the screen and help😫 you're a Rockstar gma and very appreciated thank you for teaching so many others♡
I love, love, love this video. I find it so soothing to watch her work and listen to her instructions. Thank you!! I come back every so often just to watch her at work again.
I'm 64 years old and have always regretted that I wasn't interested in quilting when my grandmother could have taught me. I really thought I had waited too late in life to learn. Watching you make this amazing quilt reassures me that I can still learn to do this. Thanks. Blessings!!!!! 💜
It's 2023 and the first time I've seen this particular video. You are amazing and did an excellent job explaining everything. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I loved the way your sewing machine just powered right over those pins! I loved the fabric you used. Blessings!
Absolutely awesome! I’m 70 years young & this is the first time I’ve watched someone do a quilt. I’m amazed, you’ve given me so much hope, I can do it too!
I'm a beginner who has been OVERWHELMED (and CONFUSED) with instructions. I learned more in these 22 minutes (and learned it WELL) than I have in weeks! THANK YOU!!!
I always thought quilting was some very difficult project so I never tried one. After watching your video I will be making my 1st quilt at 53 years old. I love how thoroughly you described what you were doing and why. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and giving us tips. You're very kind lady.
Videos like this are a beautiful way of continuing the tradition of an expert artisan passing along their knowledge. Thank you for the time you spent sharing your wisdom.
My grandmother called this tacking a quilt. I don't know why. I learned a super helpful tip on threading my tapestey needle for my crochet. I never knew there waa a deep side to the needle and her little tape trick will save me a lot of grief. I am soon to tie my first tied quilt and I feel this video is all I need. Thank you so very, very much and thank her for me please. God bless.
You are just so sweet! Make me think of my loving grandma who taught me to knit and embroider. I was a bit young to quilt, but I remember her having hand tied quilts too ❤️❤️
Thank you Mrs. Lockett. You are a very good teacher. You've helped me with my decision on how to finish my Hawaiian fabric quilt. Aloha and mahalo nui loa from Hawaii.
I agree this was SOOO much more straight forward than the other videos. I think it's a generational thing. Folks like my grandma and this young lady speak simply, and to the point. I really appreciate this immensely!! There is a lot of history in these techniques, it's as American as you get!
I never had the chance to see how my grandmother (1902-1974) made her beautiful quilts. But now I've started trying to continue her legacy. Thank you for your patient and loving instruction.
This is the clearest, easy to follow & most beautiful tutorial for a beginner quilter from beginning to end. You are a very generous & kind person to share with us your knowledge & give us the treasures of the past that we all so long for! I have learned a lot from you so thank you from the bottom of my heart & God bless you:)
I'm so very glad I found this tutorial tonight. It is a great video for every person who wants to know the proper way of tying a quilt. I imagine you'e done hundreds of these and it shows that you have the true love of gifting the quilts. TY for all you teach.

this is so very helpful, with wonderful techniques and tips- thank you so much! My grandmother was a quilter but lived too far away for me to learn from her...and watching this made me feel her presence, and made me cry- she felt so close. You are an inspiration! Can't wait to use this!
Thank you so much! My mother had intended to make some quilts for us kids and to donate, but she passed away before she got the chance. Now I can finish what she started.
I am new to quilting and so appreciate the traditional technique - I had no idea. How wonderful that she speaks about how her mother used church pews for the frame. Thank you for taking the time to create such a professional video and share to the public ... blessed be
