Beautiful castle with rich history! In the year 1457 during the Thirteen Years’ War between the Kingdom of Poland and the Teutonic Order the Polish king Casimir IV Jagiellon purchased the castle for 190,000 florins and it became a residence for the kings of Poland for over 300 years.

Od wielu lat zjeżdżają się tam pasjonaci z całego świata (w tym roku był nawet rycerz z Kanady!) aby rywalizować w turnieju jak w średniowieczu. Byłem w tym roku z dziećmi i byliśmy zachwyceni. Całość odbywa się w okolicach pięknego zamku i można się poczuć jak dawniej. Polecam wygooglować, zobaczyć jak to wygląda i odwiedzić w przyszłym roku w wakacje ;)
This castle is so big and complex and was such an incredibly huge logistical challenge in the Middle Ages that my jaw always drops when I'm there. It just so happens that I live quite close by and Malbork was the first medieval castle I saw in my life as a little kid. Since then I've probably visited well over 200 castles in Europe. For many years in my youth I was looking for an even bigger and more impressive castle because I wanted more, but I was disappointed. There is nothing more impressive in this category in the world. Think about the chances that by chance the first castle you visit in your life will be the best and the biggest one ;) But there is one that is similar in size to Malbork. It is Alhambra in Spain. Almost as large and huge as a city in itself.

Stu, You should definitely come in next Year to "Oblężenie Malborka"-Siege of Malbork. It's a big event with knight tournaments, medieval dances, etc.
