- Ridgewood Barbecue in Bluff City Tennessee has been recognized by many such as People Magazine as the best BBQ in the USA. Located near Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol and Elizabethton Tennessee among others this hard to find location is always packed. I live in NE Ohio and I drive the 450 miles to eat at Ridgewood. They serve delicious bbq sandwiches and plates. This isn't a rib joint but the sliced bbq, sauce, and the portions make up for it. So far, Ridgewood is my favorite place for BBQ and I always bring home jars of sauce. The french fries and baked beans are awesome too! Wash it down with a big ol glass of sweet tea and you'll go home feeling pretty darn good!

I try as many BBQ spots as I can. Now I can find them with the BBQ Lovers phone app!
So looking forward to working as Santa this year at Bass Pro in Bristol and eating as many meals as possible at Ridgewood. Ridgewood get ready, Mike Furches is coming home.

Funny, I have eaten there numerous times over the years and never had bad service, busy service yes, but never bad. It has always been worth it to me.
Absolutely the best BBQ ever!!! No ribs but big, juicy sandwiches.
For a good meal get a pork sandwich (no slaw for me) , fries (real fresh cut fries) and some beans (fresh with bits of BBQ in them. Why is the BBQ so good? The sauce and meat of course, but they also cook them together before it is put on the sandwich

This place is the real deal!!! Be sure to verify the hours though. They are closed one day a week and during their busy times they just take the phone off the hook.
I live in NE Ohio and I'm sure people would think I'm crazy for driving almost 500 miles to eat at Ridgewood BBQ. They don't sell ribs here but I've never missed that because the sliced bbq here is the best I've ever eaten. It's hard to believe these are not pork shoulders but smoked hams. The sauce is excellent and the fries and baked beans the best. I have never had bad service here. I always take home a few bottles of sauce. I could eat here 6 days a week.

If you live near there or can eat at home, call and order the food then pick it up and go back home.

I wish I lived 20 minutes away, I would eat there like once or twice a week.
The beans are as good as the barbecue.
I could eat there 7 days a week, don't forget to try the blue cheese dressing

@ricktvpass This BBQ is in Tennessee, good luck finding anything in Kansas that is nearly as good as this.
do stop by, it is a great unknown and I believe the best. When in, tell them I sent you hopefully they will remember me. If not that is okay, you will enjoy the food.
@ricktvpass More than okay, you would have had a hard time for sure trying to find anything like even Ridgewood, truth is, best BBQ I have had in Kansas is a little place in Wichita called Pig In Pig Out and believe it or not a grocery store near here that serves smoked BBQ 2X each week called Leekers. They are good, but don't compare to Ridgewood.

You must be lost. Tennessee sauce isn't vinegar-heavy. That's a North Carolina sauce trait.
this sauce isn't vinegar heavy and am pretty aware that NC is. I don't recall ever saying it was vinegar heavy in the vid can you point out where that was said
Forget the beef, do the pork samich w/slaw. Fries are a heart attack on a plate. Share unless you want to hurt yourself. Be aware of the service hours and come early. I have stood in line for an hour to have the door locked in my face at 8PM. They don't care, they don't have to....but I'll be back.
Why don't more people know about this place?

I'm lucky to actually live in Johnson City, so I've grown up knowing about this place. All of my friends are from out of town and all of them talk about having the best BBQ (especially my friend from Memphis) until they try ridgewood. Best BBQ in the country hands down.
+Gary Laws I grew up there and miss it terribly, that said, no trip home is ever complete with at least 1 if not more trips to Ridgewood. I have eaten BBQ in 47 States and 3 countries and for my taste buds, there is none better.
