- What is buckling? Do I have to care about it? If you start to ask these questions, you are on the right track. This webinar brings a summary of information needed to successfully evaluate buckling issues within a design of a steel joint.
During the webinar, we will summarize the main principles of this form of structural instability called buckling. We will recap the theory about the shapes and critical load factor and bring an example with actual results. A recommendation to solve insufficient results is included.
Webinar content:
why not to underestimate buckling
applied theory (buckling shapes, critical load factor)
practical demonstration on a connection model
how to handle the thin-walled connections

Nice webinar, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great webinar, thanks)
What if we reproduce the connection in IdeaStatica Member? There is most advanced design now GMNIA - would it be more accurate than in Connection regarding local buckling?
Thank you :)
Connection tells you the buckling shape and its critical factor, then you consider what to do - either its not dangerous or it is and then you react by strengtening or doing further analysis. And this is the point when you use Member - mode the connection and surrounding members and analyze it using the imperfections of the beams as well and the program tells you whether it will really buckle and fail the code-check or if it is safe.
In other words - analysis in Connection and Member are based on the same CBFEM method inside, just it shows you a bit different things. And in combination of these 2 apps, you get ultimate combo of calculating everything :).
