Thought I would give you more of a walkabout tour for EGX 2023 this year to give you more of a feel of the atmosphere and scale of it instead of just talking about what there was. Be sure to check out my videos on previous years for an overview of the features though! Thanks for watching!
I used to go to this event from 2016-2021. We stopped after 2021 because the event really lost a lot of its splendor due to covid and since never recovered to its former grandiose. It's a shame because my family and friends made a good week out of going to London/Birmingham for the event. This walkthrough confirmed my suspicion, tons of empty space and a lack of major booths, companies, people and Triple A titles really sealed the deal for me unless something major changes. The atmosphere just dosen't feel the same as a few years back.
I was involved in the printing of all those graphics for Sega - we have photos from the installation but it's great to see it in action with actual people there! 👍
This is really sad, having gone to Paris Games week this year and seeing the huge names they had there. Was a completely different feel even though I don't speak French well the vibe seemed way cooler than this
For me the networking was good, getting to meet publishers and developers who I have worked with and chat with them, but I also really liked the PC Lan zone, playing some CS2 with people and the arcades are always awesome.
I greatly appreciate that you make sure to get the devs' name and game title in each shot. I get irritated when I see something interesting, but no idea what it is. No such problems on this video!
I feel like that's the whole point of the video really to showcase some of the devs and to show off the features of the event 😁 glad you appreciate the content.
Having previously visited several EGX events in London and Birmingham I must say how disappointed I was with the show last weekend. A pathetic shadow of its former self. Hardly any notable developers or titles on display. Not sure I'll go next year.
I think Covid had a big knock on effect with it, I've gone the past few years and they are certainly trying to restore it to its former glory. This years event was much bigger but it felt like they had most of the same stuff from last year but spread it out more. Hopefully next year will see more big names attending and a bit of a shakeup on the format.

Any favourite parts you liked @SwitchStars?

Jesus, I was thinking of taking my son, but I’ve seen more like at funeral directors convention!! It’s literally lifeless! 🙈

I think the worst thing is the train prices. The event doesn't look great now but i'd be willing to go if travel was a bit cheaper these days.
From my experience with the Mascots. Sonic was waay cooler than Mario and Luigi. Kudos to the person inside for keeping in character
I always liked Sonic more too lol, though Nintendo did have the more memorable characters in its Mario universe IMO.
