  • Jason Weigandt is for me the voice of Motocross. For 2024 he finally gets his chance to step into the booth during Supercross, and it makes an epic season just that touch bit sweeter. I planned to get a lot into Weige's back story, tell some stories from his 20+ year career, but that is going to have to wait for the next one! We spent 4 hours solving all of the real and imaginary problems of Supercross and it was unreal.

The reason many AMA contracts are signed in late March was explained to me back in the 90s ..... the Japanese OEM's work on their end of financial year falling on the end of march and the new year starting on the 1st of Aprill. So the money has to be budgeted in their financial years not the calender year. When the contracts are huge like they are for Chase it matters.... if they wait and sign a guy for millions that are not budgeted for it is a problem. It has been done like that since the 70s and most of the big deals are influenced by the Japanese rider market wise. If it is not planned for in the budgets it is just never happening 99% of the time.

Its hard to dictate when other parties can make contracts with each other because it can be seen as anti competitive. The reason the NFL and other sports can do it is because everyone agreed to it, through the union. It would be 100x better to ensure riders are under contract until the end of SMX, have a free agency period, and a "roster lock" but more things would have to come together. That would be great for the sport though.

Jase can you interview Guy Cooper? He was before the times of social media so have no idea what he’s like in person other than being one of the sickest riders ever.

How do we go from asking why we riders sign two years in advance to never get an answer to it and start glazing Jett?

Yeah I don’t think it’s the bikes at all. I mean maybe a slight feeling, but these teams can make the bikes feel anyway the rider wants. Sexton got tired of playing second feeling and getting beat by a team member. I absolutely agree between Sexton and Jett thing.

So you guys want things to be like MotoGP.... ? I wouldn't be opposed to letting all pro riders...including privateers... ride and test all the bikes and then doing the mad dash to get contracts signed.

I wish Jason and Ralph Shaheen should commentate every race. I'm tired of dull ass RC4 who sounds like a broken record every race and talks about things that's just unnecessary. A guy can pass for 1st place and he'll be like ",He's been practicing that. That was practicing routine 1, 2, 3 all day. Only way you can execute that pass is time practicing on the practice track day in, day out."

And what I mean by that is if you have a wheel barrow and one is 50 pounds and one is 100 pounds it would be like carrying the 100 pound wheel barrow.
