I had never heard this story before. The story of this unit is the kind of story that normally doesn't get told. Not just because it is a war movie about black Americans, which are pretty rare but have been getting more common as of late :). But also because it is about something that isn't necessarily glamorous. These ladies had to sort through 17 million pieces of mail in a short period of time. The Army had a massive backlog and important pieces of mail were getting lost. As well as pieces of mail that were important for morale, letters from home. It isn't storming Normandy but, it's the kind of work that makes storming Normandy happen. Also, their ship to Europe got attacked by German U-boats, which is pretty hardcore. I'm definitely interested in this one, really good actors.
Long before it was publicly known that a movie was in the offering, we were sharing the history of the 6888 in my church. Congratulations, and we are excited to see it in December! Well done ladies, and thank you for your service 🙏🙏

In WW2, the women do their part by working in industrial factories to build weapons, vehicles and equipment that would be shipped out to the Allied Forces. That's where Marilyn Monroe used to do prior to her acting career, and the source behind the Rosie Riveter poster of "You Can Do It!"
Women have always had to do "their part," carry the loads of many; while fighting for survival under atrocities committed against them in ALL Man-Made Wars. If all Men did "their part" they would not have time to be at war with anyone ever. Maybe in the not-so-far future, more Men will realize that and allow harmony to rise up towards its rightful place in the world. Until that time comes, Women will continue to hold together the Earth so many Men are trying to rip apart. Business as usual I guess 😑💅🏾

In the movie Battle of the Bulge, there is a scene where the German tank commander comments that a cake captured by the Germans is still fresh. The 6888th or a similar group would have delivered that cake to a US soldier on the front lines in December 1944. A fresh cake from home would have been a big morale booster.

I can't wait to see this movie. As a proud woman veteran, I stood on the shoulders of these amazing, brave women that came before me. Kerry Washington is perfect for this role!
@shinebright311 you had male friends served in the military ?
Maybe Greyhound will get a little bump from that perspective.
COVID buried the release.
One thing about Kerry, she gon carry this

These individuals are working on other projects as well. Sometimes it’s not the most negative thing we can think of. Sometimes the other individual may have passed on it or or could be a scheduling conflict or nothing at all.
Honestly I think Viola has to find a way away from these type of roles unless she wants to be stereotyped for the rest of her career.
@@filmgirlLisa I think a lot of times Viola is offered Parts like these because she is such a fantastic and strong actress. In WW2, the women do their part by working in industrial factories to build weapons, vehicles and equipment that would be shipped out to the Allied Forces.
That's where Marilyn Monroe used to do prior to her acting career, and the source behind the Rosie Riveter poster of "You Can Do It!"
Many were also spies, delivered airplanes, were technicians and in logistics.
The portion of your statement regarding Marilyn Monroe is INCORRECT. Naomi Parker Fraley was the inspiration for the Rosie the Riveter poster.
