My heart just swelled up a notch, likewise the reason I work at a University and advocate for any education whether one sees it through to graduation or to be in attendance to class or otherwise is that a lesson reshapes ones perception. May we never stop evolving to respect in our debate to change into something of wonder as a Friday child I'm Cured.
ps I grew up in a time where graduation was only celebrated at College or University levels and attended 15 of which, two were mine. Also love that RMIT celebrates our Graduands with a procession in the main downtown street.

Mayim is my favourite! Not because of her tv career (which is also awesome), but because of who she is. Her UA-cam channel is one of my very favourites. She makes me think, she makes me laugh and she really makes me cry. She makes me feel less weird, just by being herself unapologetically. I have depression and anxiety and OCD and hearing her thoughts on those uncomfortable subjects and how she deals with it gives me strength. Love her so much!

I so agree with you don't go "back" to your self-identity after children. You're a different person after kids, things that mattered in the past no longer feel important. You'll drift apart from some friends, make some solid new friends who you bond with on a whole new level. I feel much more comfortable with myself after having babies. And it "levels the playing field" with other mothers- you'll encounter women from all walks in life, but you'll be able to connect on being moms. It's pretty incredible.

The day after I graduated high school I moved out of my 600 person town, I still go back but leaving was the best decision I ever made.

I lost interest in her current TV show, but I love Mayim. It is always a pleasant surprise when she pops up in something I consume, UA-cam videos, podcasts, etc.
The newborn question was my favorite. I have a 4 month old baby. I suppose I might as well give up on reclaiming my self identity haha!
If many of your friends have dispersed after graduation, look for local groups, activities, and events that interest you, like an art class, a sports team, or a religious group for young adults. You'll start to meet new people, who will then introduce you to their friends, and you'll hear about more events, where you'll meet even more people. This is a great way to find a community that resonates with your values and personality.

I agree with having a plan set before you actually leave. Meaning I can’t imagine leaving without a job and place to stay first. Trying to find a place to live without a form of income and a place to live is just insane to me. Lol

After my newborn I made her an Instagram for her. I had family and friends constantly asking for pictures. So now hers is hers and mine can be about me and my stuff. It helps because it let's me have other interests other than my baby.

My #1 piece of advice for people graduating high school:
If you think to yourself, "I want to get away from _________" for whatever reason, and you plan on going to college, go to college somewhere away from that! If not, you will regret it and it may affect your mental health and wellness and that might make college really hard!
I've never hung the bathmat... Also, my family and I LOVE the Avett Brothers!!
