I am a 97 year old woman putting up a shed for my vegetable garden and I found this video extremely helpful. I like how you used the glass instead of corrugated plastic. Thank you for sharing.
Recently started a Chilli garden myself and was looking for ways to store them long term while waiting for more kinds to start ripening (only Habaneros have begun ripening so far) this helped alot
When one starts growing and producing their own of anything, s/he will soon realize it is much, much better than store bought. It's not because you made/grew it yourself, it actually is better! I've grown vegetables, been adding more and more fruit, and this year I am drying and grinding my home grown herbs. I was shocked at the greater quality of my own herbs! I really didn't expect the night and day difference I saw. I have some apache pepper plants that I will be making hot pepper powder from. I grind my herbs with a meat grinder, works perfect. I will be grinding my peppers with it as well.
That looks absolutely stunning! Thank you for making this wonderful video. I always wondered how people dry them out so thoroughly. I have inadvertently dried chilies before by forgetting about them in an uncovered bowl that I put into the refrigerator. After a couple of weeks, they were dried out perfectly fine. Obviously, drying by using the sun would be the most economical and environmentally friendly.
Nice video learnt from you how to make chilli powder your the fist video i tuned into how to make this and im very greatful to your channel i will now attempt this Thank you
Sun-dry method: Wash them first. Put them under the sun AND cover with thin black cloth. Secure the cloth in place. The thin black cloth; Provides maximum solar energy absorption; Efficient ventilation; and A great dust barrier.
The chili powder in the store is a blend of pepper or peppers and other spices , what you have there is chili pepper powder. Thanks for the video, I hope you had a great growing season, God bless you.
Great timing. I have a bag of ripe chillis and was thinking of making chillis powder. I dont have a bender as powerful as you but I do see walmart is selling a coffee grinder for cheap. I wonder how well it will work.
I have to give this a try.. I thought about drying the peppers in the sun but wasnt sure if it wpuld be a good idea.. Can i do this with other pepperz as well. Such as habenero.. Dont think a jalepeno could work though
Have you ever tried Manzano peppers? I first saw them at my Food 4 Less and they caught my eye because of the price of $4.99 a pound. I bought one so I could harvest the seeds and try growing it myself. I took a small bite and it wasn't spicy at all, so then I took a bigger bite and spent the next hour or so over the sink rinsing my mouth out with milk and ice cream because my mouth was on fire. Anyway, from what I read they're not as easy to grow as more common pepper varieties. Happy Gardening!

Thank you for being literally the only video I Have been able to find that actually named what types of chilis they put in their chili powder.
Glad it was helpful!
You can also use your oven at the lowest setting with the door cracked open. In 2hrs they are dried. I use a coffee grinder to get a good fine blend.
I feel sorry for the next person that makes a coffee...
Great tip, trying to make a pepper spray using ghost peppers, will definitely give this a try
@@Aaron-dv2rm must be a coffee grinder that is of the basic kind which can easily be washed thourougly, i have one of those

Thx a lot. I have been drying my hot peppers n now I know how to turn them into chili powder. Have a blessed day.
Pro tip, stand back when you open the blender and pour out the powder to make sure you don't breathe it in.
The same when you rinse them after you have cut them open.
Or get some in your eyes also
Wear gloves, face masks and face shield.
Wash afterwards
Beware when your washing your equipment, take your head off lol
Is that a "will it blend" reference?

Do you crush the whole chili? Including the seeds?
how do you clean your blender and can you use it after you clean it for regular use or only for pepper use?
Just regular cleaning with hot soapy water - there was no residue left after that
I have to give this a try.. I thought about drying the peppers in the sun but wasnt sure if it wpuld be a good idea.. Can i do this with other pepperz as well. Such as habenero.. Dont think a jalepeno could work though
Wonderful
What brand of blender is that please
Very nice
how do you clean your blender after that?
I have a Nutri Ninja Bl 660 and wanted to know if this blender is sufficient to get my habanero's to this consistency.
does this work for any types of blender?
Is it necessary to use a dehydrator?
Can you grind idli batter in this
Yes you can, but traditional stone grinder (electric) is a better option
Very nice and simple. Thank you for this video. I found your channel from a comment you left on Jeb Gardener's channel. Keep it up!

The way your plucking your chillies my sister told me they don't grow back when you pluck them like that, you have to cut them at the stem.
Thumbs up!
Can it last for at least a year without preservatives?
Yes it should

The question is how do i know, until when is the expiration ?
Which type of pepper did you use for this video?

Can you recommend a blender that will work but isn't $275?
A coffee grinder works.
😍
The reason why is that orange is because you include the seeds
