(PLEASE NOTE: The first 20 minutes or so of this video is from an analogue source so the sound quality may be variable - however, that's temporary and the rest is from a digital source.)
Though best known for Hitchcock's film adaptation, Psycho began as a novel. This reading from 1998 was originally broadcast after midnight in a slot known as 'The Late Book' (the same slot that had previously broadcast Emma Fieldings eerie reading of The Haunting of Hill House, which has also been uploaded to this channel). William Hope does a great job with it - and if you can't place him from his name, if you've ever seen the film 'Aliens', you'll know him best as the inexperienced but redemptively courageous officer, Lieutenant Gorman.

Gripping! The ordinariness of it all makes it even more frightening. Excellent narration.

sounds good on this side! only ever so mildly tinny and not as warm as the digital.
but I really doubt anyone would have noticed if you hadn't said anything, lol.
thank all y'all for your hard work and lovely choices.

Thank you - I've been trying to find things that are intriguing and unusual lately... though that's partly due to doing all of the obvious stories in the early days of the channel, of course..!

Agreed I really enjoyed it despite falling asleep over 20 times over the two nights and having to rewind through no fault of the drama lol

That's the paradox of good radio - sometimes you know it's good because it makes you fall asleep..!
