I bet in 40 years, we’ll look back at this as one of the most impressive police car advancements. I admit, crown vics are just better but we have to move on and get with the times. The crown Vic already did it’s job and did it very impressively

If Ford did that they would quite literally be saying to their investors, “Hey, we plan on throwing away a couple million dollars because......well, just because.” Ford and about every other mainstream manufacturers are moving away from the sedan market. People don’t want sedans, people want SUVs and trucks.

@@NightmareKato Yeah, modern cars are better, they have more hp, little engines, less consumption and are more fast, but the old cars have all the stuff the petrolheads fans want, less electronic help, more strong cars, easy fix, and more romantic feelings in the highway. Thank you for presenting a great video. Being Australian, I'll never see these vehicles in action. The last Australian Ford Falcon sedans made for Police work had a 6 cylinder 4.0L inline turbo charged engine, plus everything else was also beefed up ie, bigger brakes, better suspension etc. These were extremely fast even beating the Falcon V8 Police vehicle until the V8 had stretched it's legs. Couldn't out run these vehicle unless you had an imported exotic vehicle. I truely miss the Falcons, you could drive 500 miles and step out refreshed as when you first sat down in it. Comparing the Falcon, it was almost identical to the Ford Taurus exterior, the slight difference were the rear lights design and the dash panels.

Ford mentioned a few years ago that the Panther platform that the Crown Vic and the Town Car rode on was getting too old and out dated. It doesn’t meet current safety standards and Ford would have had to spend lots of money on it.
The Panther platform is a favorite because it had a full body of frame chassis as opposed to unitized body that the current Explorers use meaning better durability and repairablility.

I read in I think Motor Trend...that the Fords...Explorer and Taurus are "pursuit rated" meaning they can take a hit....jump curbs etc and keep going....the Fiats and chevys can't. The hybrids would be good Sarge cars...not everyday units but supervisor type.

The CVPI was the ultimate police cruiser. All others are failures. Our local department has these hybrids and they are universally hated by everyone who is forced to drive them. Usually the higher ranking officers get the new cars, but in this case they pass them down to the lower ranking as those with seniority stick with the Chargers- which suck compared to the Crown Vic.
