  • I had to fill up some pens for writing our 'thank you letters' and I decided video # 31 would be all about the ink choices I made. I have three fountain pen inks and three TWSBI ecos. Learn what my impressions are of these inks in this short video!
Enjoy Shin-kai from Pilot, Majestic Purple from Diamine, and Buttered Popcorn from Ferris Wheel Press.

I just ran into your You-tube channel. I use all different colors for work - including yellows. I almost always use yellow and lighter colors in wider nibs, not a fine nib.

I love the Diamine Violet that I purchased from you a while ago. It's a beautiful shade of purple. Thank you for your review.

Those three pens filled with matching inks are beautiful together, a joy for the eyes!
The very first ink I've bought was a parker quink blue black, and i still love it. I like shin-kai but i mix it with a drop of take-sumi (black) and that makes it so deep and beautiful.

My favorite Iroshizuku blue is Asa-gao, but Shin-Kai is nice too.

Great and fun video. Thank you. I love diamine bilberry for purple and fwp beaver dam for brown. Love private reserve ebony brown. It is dark and rich. Thank you!

my favourite inks are made by Diamine, Montblanc and Aurora: have small handwriting and these inks put down a fine line which doesn’t spread out which matters most to me; find the Iroshizuku inks to be inconsistent: love the colour palette but not all of them stay put but shin-kai does as does shin-ryoku, syo-ro’s quite well behaved too as is blue/black and red from their regular inks; majestic purple is a lighter purple than I like, prefer Diamine iris and Montblanc ultramarine; the Ferris Wheel Press ink reminds me of J Herbin’s ambre de Birmanie which thankfully also dries darker than it goes down; thanks for this:)

Like the purple, then blue, I think the ferris wheel would display its color character better with a broader point putting down a heavier line of ink.

Thanks for demonstrating a Ferris Wheel Press ink. It's a brand I've heard of, but never tried as pastels aren't my thing either. And a poor experience with Platinums yellow ink. (I can't see it 🤣).
I tend to use Diamine the most, Writers Blood and Ancient Copper seem to be the ones I gravitate to. They are dark but colourful, saturated and work appropriate.
But I use mainly grey inks for daily writing: Earl Grey, Little Matty (on the very dark side of grey), Moon Dust (a shimmer) and Ash all from Diamine and Iroshizuku's Kiri-same; Iroshizuku bottles look fab on a desk.
I have Diamine's Royal Blue ink, but it reminds me of school. I think I prefer a bright cyan type of blue such as Watermans Inspired Blue, Platinum's Aqua or Pelikan Edelstein Topaz.
If you are a fan of Brown's, then I really like Organic Studios Boron Brown and Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz.
Another great video. Thank you. 👍

My go to are blue-black and brown or green inks. The only light colour I ended up liking a lot is the very neon green-yellow Hotaru bi. It stands out so much that it is almost out of this world. I love the FWP Writing Desk (brown with lots of variation) and Edwards Gardens (a very nice shaded dark green). I also like all Iroshizuku violet shades but find them quite staining (be careful with light coloured pens!). My go to brand probably is run of the mill Parker Quink. Affordable and widely available in a pinch. I don't have to be sad if I use up a bottle. And not staining. It washes off and out of anything.

Lovely comments. Many thanks for sharing. Particularly about Parker ink. There are so many lovely inks out there, but the best are the most accessible and the simplest in my opinion.

Myself, right now, am mainly a Purple, Blue, Red, or Black ink sort of person, nothing too unusual. Darker greens could also work for me. This is mainly because of my usage, mostly for work and journaling where I need to be able to easily read.

Great reply. Thank you. I’m loving Diamine green-black right now, but haven’t got it on the site yet :(
