  • One of my favorite old songs, recently rediscovered and now set to a slideshow of old pictures that (I hope) brings it back to life and does this great old song justice... Special thanks to Tommy Kaye for the song and everyone else who helped find the images to make this possible. Thanks for watching... enjoy!

NO WAY!!!! I haven't heard this song since I was a little kid! Wow, that was almost 40 years ago. I couldn't help but feel tears welling in my eyes... a sad song but happy childhood memories.
I have looked for this song on other web sites to no avail, yet here it is.
Thank you so much for posting it!

This song chokes me up every time I hear it. Such a sad song. I think many of us can relate to this song.Three days ago, on November 10, 2015, my wife and I had gone to see Frank Mills in Chilliwack (Appropriate as this song mentions that the old man died one cold November day) and he sang this song among others.Apparently, this song was inspired by an organ grinder that Frank Mills had seen and heard when he was a young boy, and the rest is history. After the concert, I was the first in line to have the 2 CD's and 1 video that I had purchased to be autographed by Frank Mills.I had told Mr. Mills that I was so happy that he had sung this song, and that it choked me up every time that I had heard it on the radio. Mr. Mills seemed a bit surprised at how this song had moved me, but he thanked me for that and for coming to his concert. Then I shook Mr. Mills' hand and thanked him for coming to Chilliwack.During the concert, Mr. Mills was so down to Earth, and he kept thanking the audience for still coming to his concerts! Thank you Mr. Mills for coming to our city!!!Also, just before the concert, Mr. Mills had reconnected with a man who had worked for his dad when Mr. Mills was just a young boy. This man had kept a memento since their childhood and gave it to Mr. Mills. Mr. Mills was very moved by this act of generosity. Mr. Mills had mentioned this man during the concert. They talked again after the concert.During the concert, Frank Mills had said that he now lives in the state of Vermont, just south of Montreal, with his wife and their livestock, but that he is still a Canadian. What a legend!

You are so right. I have one of Frank's albums with this song, listened for hours.
Music, music, music. That is why I am subtitling favorites songs from my past and other songs that touched me, even though at the time, I could not understand all the words.
Now with the internet, I do.

@guynextdoor4u Wow....well, that's my "News Of The Day"! I'm 39 years old....born & raised in Canada, and I NEVER knew he sang anything. My mom & dad are big fans, and I always bring my albums with me when I visit them. I'm planning on seeing them again in March or April...can't wait to spring this one on them! I contacted Mr. Mills last year and told him how important his music was to my family. Next thing I know, he mailed me an AUTOGRAPHED copy of his last album (2000 Live performance)!

I know why I cry when I hear this melody and many like it...the words "and tell the world his story...'til death could ease his pain"...it seems that's what I've been doing all too long and now that I'm ready for death to ease my pain..my precious sweetheart is begging me not to go..she doesn't realize I am approaching the point where I won't be able to take it anymore...if this next round of treatments fails, then I've got to tell her I need to leave and I just don't know how...

Before I even knew what 'love' was, i was attached to this song. Perhaps, what I think was the harmonica, or other instrument, and then the vocalist sound, plus the lyrics, how could one not want to want this? True love is sure to be argued as the happy ideal, but when that true love leaves, as I understand this song states, this true love was now gone thru death, one can only feel the deepness portrayed. Absolutely one of my best sounds of music ever - thanks to those who created this.

Thanks for putting this togeather. It's one of those songs that was on the airwaves constantly in 1972 and then you never heard it again. A bit on the sappy side but so melodic you gotta like it. @MrBuckwilliam That HURTS! Even hearing the story brings memory of my own family's breakup. my folks were talking too loud about divorce. our house was not complete, and I heard them. eventually, they heard me crying, and came to see what was wrong. I was sure that if I went with my mom, I would never see dad again. and if I went with dad I would never see mom again. The only thing I understood was I was going to get hurt no matter what. that was 40 yrs ago, and I still cry to think of it.

It should have been a #1 song, or at least a top 10 million seller. Listening to this made my life worth living. I thought the name was "If you love me love me love me why did you ever leave me girl". I also thought Neil Young sang this song because it reminded me of "Heart of Gold". The only time I heard it was when me,a 9 year old & my dad were waiting on my mom to come out of an edifice in downtown corpus christi while it played on the car radio.

@ThirdOfJune4444 This song was a favorite of mine as a kid as well but when I got older nobody had EVER heard of it! When I rediscovered it I just HAD to create a video worthy of it (even though it meant looking at 100,000 depression era pictures to do so...)
I look forward to hearing how your parents enjoy it and seeing their comments as well... Cheers! :)

@guynextdoor4u I will definitely let you know...they will be very surprised! I also just heard "Poor Little Fool", and I think I like it better than "Love Me Love Me Love". Nevertheless, he's a talented vocalist! A shame he retired in 2000 but we can't all be working forever, I suppose. That's my shocking news of the day...WOW! Who'd have thought.........Franks Mills SINGS! I'm gonna tell EVERYBODY I see today (on the streets or at work)...LOL!

I'm confused about who sings this song. Is it THE Frank Mills? As in...Music Box Dancer, Frank Mills? THE Canadian Frank Mills? I have most of his albums, and wasn't aware he performed a song vocally.
