For those of you that are surprised: Backstory of this sketch was that in 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, Kanye West interrupted the victory speech of Justice and Simian who won the Best Video Award and said he deserved to win with his video ''Touch the Sky'' with saying "If I don't win, the awards show loses''. While it became controversial, it would be later nothing compared to his speech to Taylor Swift in 2009.

I don't think so. SNL has always been a platform for these celebs to do damage control when they do some weird and crazy stuff. People watch these skits and are like... wow, they are so funny, they are making fun of themselves, they're just normal people like you and me... when in all reality they probably are as crazy and weird as they act. Miley did one after the VMA's debacle, Bieber did one, Kanye did one. I bet their publicists made them do it. And people actually buy it.

+TheVideoInvader I know its SNL. To sell skits like that, the writing must be spot on. Errors like that take the edge off of it. Watch Colin Quinn doing Weekend Update as a reference.
I wonder if referring to it as the peace price was scripted, adlib or flub. Either way, this is pretty funny, and as much as I generally fail to get the appeal of Kanye's works (and occasional attitude), I have to tip the imaginary hat to this. According to Seth Meyers, Kanye pitched the basic idea for this sketch, which goes to show that at least he's got some self-awareness in hindsight (which he seems to be not so good at in the moment).

Then he went to hawaii to make one of the greatest albums of all time
This aired in 2007, but it plays like a parody of him interrupting T Swift at the VMAs in 2009. I guess SNL writers had the measure of him even then!
It's an American show. Americans write the date year/day/month.
Jesper Svahn On the SNL videos it's always written month/day/year. Anyway, it says season 33 which was the 07/08 season.

Especially since he supports Trump and Hitler.
Kanye is actually the best.

🤣😂2 years before Taylor Swift! I blame Seth Meyers😂

But it also happened AFTER he did it a couple other times, like they discussed here.
