When some one teach how use and make nodes its boring and depressing, u really help me too understand how work with each node, its not that simple when there is no background and bro, u really really kill in it on your work. Thanks! I have 2 * 2080ti's, it's definitely enough for daily basis, however my only problem is running out of VRAM. I will have some scenes with millions of polygons and extremely high amounts of information and the amount of VRAM I have won't hold it all, so it'll slow down the rendering. • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely my pleasure Mauro!
      It’s definitely translatable to redshift, since it also has the RandomWalk scattering medium. Simply look up how to add the RandomWalk medium in RS and follow the same noise nodes work. As far as the OSL node for the normal map conversion, I’m certain you have OSL nodes in RS which will be able to use the same `OSL code I’m using here. And if not, it’s not a crucial step at all. You n simply use the bump nodes and RandomWalk nodes and it will get you 95% there.

    GREAT VID. I'm trying to decide between diving into C4d rendering or Blender rendering. Am I crazy in thinking that C4d has better renders? They just seem to pop in this strange way. More bold and more tangible than blenders rendering. Would Octane in in c4d and Octane in Blender be exactly the same output?

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  Рік тому +1

      That's a really interesting question. If I had to come up with an answer, I would say all the high end engines (Octane, Redshift, Arnold, Eevee/Cycles etc) are all capable of the same level of quality. It really is all about the artist approach to texturing and lighting. If you use the right lights and place them in the right places, you'll get a bold and tangible image. I've seen inspiringly incredible results on both Blender and C4D on all engines.
      Octane for Blender works slightly differently because it's based on Blender's interface and integration abilities. I know that OTOY are constantly struggling with integrating with C4D API and have to work around it, therefore are missing some features that Redshift has for example. However Blender is open-source so as a render engine you can probably integrate with the software much more elaborately.
      Me personally, I'm much more comfortable with C4D so obviously for me I get much better results than in Blender. But if you master a program you'll be able to get great results, it's about the person not the program.

      @dariofromthefuture3075 Рік тому

      @@NewPlastic Great answer. Thanks man. I've seen great results out of Redshift renderings too. Do you have a preference? I'm not sure the exact difference. I'm using a Mac M1 not a 3090 btw. I know Octane takes special advantage of the 3090.

    Great! Do these materials work in Octane version 3.07? Thanks!

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому +1

      Good question, I'm actually not sure. The only reason for it not to work is if RandomWalk wasn't introduced yet in that version. I have a feeling 3.07 doesn't have RandomWAlk, so you could try the same technique with a Scattering Medium. It should work fine for this method.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому +1

      RandomWalk is faster to render and preserves details much better, but since there's not much detail in this skin, I think you'll be OK

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому

      Hey, thanks for buying the pack! Is your octane version up to date? Because if it's not you probably don't have the RandomWalk medium, which is used in this to achieve the SSS effect.
      If that's the issue, simply add a Scattering medium and attach the node used for the albedo to the Absorption, and attach the node used for the Radius to the Scattering.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому

      It'll have slightly different results but it'll work

  • @jvalal

    Is there any way to do this type of skin without Octane? I'm just kicking the tires on C4D and adding more software to the workflow is just costly for beginners.

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  2 роки тому

      Yeah I hear you, there's definitely a way to do it with C4D's default materials, just look up Subsurface Scattering in c4d. But honestly before any other plugin, I'll use a 3rd party render engine because they're so so so much better. Lightyears ahead.

    can someone tell me how to instal osl nodes? i have no idea-
    pd: good tutorial

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  3 роки тому

      Hey thanks Susana! For the OSL nodes, you don't install them as much as you simply load them in, like you do an image. I show at 5:07 how to load them in - Download the OSL file, drag an OSL texture node into the material, in the OSL node tick "External", then where it says "Script File" load in the OSL file like you do an image (click on the 3 dots and select it from your hard drive), then hit the "Compile" button (which I actually forgot to mention to do). Then the OSL node turns into a special node that does whatever the code file you loaded in tells it to do.
      Hope that was clear enough, let me know if you have any more questions!

      But it should work about the same way, I'm pretty sure the RandomWalk SSS works almost identical to Octane's, as well as the noise textures. So it should be a very similar workflow

      You mean with C4D's standard/physical renderer? You would have to mess with the SSS feature, it's been years since I worked with C4D's native engine but from what I remember, it's ok, but hard to get subtle and rich materials with it. But, I'm sure it's possible. Look for adding SSS in the Luminance channel, I just did some quick tests and the results are not bad :)
