- Follow Jemma inside a little nook of our busy Soho Bakery to make 'Drippy Yolk' Creme Egg cupcakes for Easter. Our classic moist, chocolate, chocolate chip sponge, a creme egg baked in the centre, topped with smooth vanilla swiss meringue butter cream and a 'drippy yolk'. These will be available all week on the counter in store at C&D Soho, along with many other Easter cupcakes and bakes. 140g Plain Flour
185g Caster Sugar
35g Cocoa Powder
1⁄4 tsp Sea Salt
1⁄2 tsp Bicarb35g Dark Choc Chips (54%)
2 Eggs
125g Cooled Coffee
125g Buttermilk
105g Vegetable Oil
12 Frozen Mini Creme Eggs
BUTTERCREAM:
150g Egg Whites
300g Caster Sugar
360g Soft Unsalted Butter
1⁄4 tsp Sea Salt
1⁄3 tsp Vanilla Extract
GANACHE:
60g White Chocolate Chips
20g Double Cream
Yellow Food Colouring

Hey… this recipe is just fabulous! I was extremely sad that I didn‘t get those cream eggs here in good old Germany. Anyways… I replaced those guys and the result made me happy … Looked like a fake egg and tasted like heaven … Sorry - there were too good to spend any time on taking pictures

Lovely recipe. II have a question. Won't the melted chocolate egg harden up after cooling , so that when you bite into the cupcake, it will have no center drip / sauce ?

I was thinking of trying to make crème brûlée in an easter egg half. Im not sure if pouring the baked custard would work though.
Have you ever tried to make a “impossible cake”? You get the custard and the cake, in Spanish it’s called, “chocoflan”.
I am curious, are the cupcake liners taller than normal ones or where do you find the cupcake tins that have shorter depressions? My problem is the liners here are the same height as the tub depth so cupcakes usually burn to the pan a bit at the top.
We use standard cupcake tins and the cases we use are only slightly taller than the tin. We sell them on cupcakejemma.com x

@@littlellama7 We have it too - not thick enough though. I ruined a cheesecake using heavy cream to replace. Wondering what a good substitute might be.

That's a very fancy timer. I think they just tied it to the oven with coloured string.
Ah i thought the wire was going jnto the oven. Ive been trying to find more accurate ways to measure my temp. My oven is wonky @@nessagirl1911

It won’t be the same! I hate coffee, but Jemma noted in a previous video that you won’t taste it - simply brings out the chocolate flavour. Of course, she was correct! Everyone loves them that try my chocolate cake/cupcakes!

@@ceen88 yes I know, but I am visually impaired and unable to read text so rely completely on the spoken voice which has always been fantastic on Gemma's channel. to provide full accessibility, that needs to be VoiceOver/audio description as well as subtitles for the death and hard of hearing.

Disability and accessibility can take different forms and one person might be able to acces the text in the description and another person might not. It also depends on the technology on the device used, whether it can read text to speech in a video, video subtitles, or the description box. Just use water. But coffee does a great job of enhancing the chocolate flavour without making the cakes taste like coffee. Give it a go if you can x

Haha. It’s not theatrics. If something’s delicious my face looks happy and I make appropriate sounds. And these were very delicious. 🤷🏻♀️
