Thank you for sharing your photo session - very motivating! I have ordered a copy of the 105 when it was available for preorder…
Here my two questions: a) does the 105 allow for firmware upgrades? b) I‘d love to see a forth DISP button option: depth of field for the current settings, i.e. dof for current distance/magnification and aperture. That would be extremely helpful to either adjust aperture or calculate shots for focus stacking (or focus shifting as Nikon calls it). A firmware upgrade would allow to add this, isn‘t it?

Hi. Thanks for your comment and suggestion, we'll forward it to the appropriate department. Regarding your other question, we do offer firmware upgrades to our products, however, we can't comment on future announcements. Let us know if you have other questions.

      Hello Alex.
      Thank you for your message.
Regarding your query, were sorry to say that we are unable to establish a comparison between one of our lenses and a third party lens, however between the NIKKOR Z MC 50mm f/2.8 and NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S we can say the following:
The NIKKOR Z MC 50mm f/2.8, is the entry level macro lens for the Z series camera, it is perfect for someone starting in macrophotography and its 28 aperture also make it a good street and portrait lens.
For the full specs of this lens, please check: imaging.nikon.com/lineup/lens/z-mount/z_mc50mmf28/index.htm
The NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S is the flagship macro lens for the Z series, the it offers unrivalled sharpness and beautiful bokeh all in the same frame

Hope that you find this information helpful.

Thank you for this great insight! Do you think the noise of the autofokus is similar to the 24-70S lens? Mine is so much louder, wondering whether this is a mistake in production.

Hi Ulrike. In order to check this, can you contact our customer support team at the following link, please? If you can send a video in which it's possible to hear the autofocus mechanism of your lens, that would be very helpful.

Would using a macro lens as a normal 105mm lens for say landscapes would there be any weaknesses? I understand portraits work well but wondering if this could fill out my 3 lens setup of a 20mm 1.8s, 50mm 1.8s and this if possible.

    • @NikonEurope
      @NikonEurope  3 роки тому

      Hello.
      Thank you for your message.
Regarding your query, setting aside the somewhat narrow angle of view, produced by the 105 mm focal distance with may be cumbersome to use in a Landscape shooting situation, the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S's high optical quality and Minimum aperture of F/32, will help in completing a camera bag, for someone looking to only use prime lenses.
For more details on the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S

Yeah a 105 for landscape would be like mountain peeks and lakes and valleys. Great for portrait work! But some say the 85 is a better portrait. I dont know i haven't dabbled in portraits but I love wide angle landscaping. I plan to get the 14-30 some day!

good job, but you don't say if these are pre-production models?, one would assume they ARE!! also you don't mention the one accessory which would be perfect with these lenses, the R1C1 ringlight, as with this genre this is exactly the use for this as you used the LED fixed light!!

Give me a manual Laowa Ultra macro 100mm CA dreamer 2:1 any day. That S lens is way too posh and I wouldn't use any of its functions apart from image stabilisation. I see Canon are breaking over the 1:1 mark with their 1.4x 100mm RF. I would have thought Nikon would be doing the same or better?
