It is eerily amazing as well as thought-provoking how Austin totally understood the mind of Elvis... and that Pricilla and Lisa Marie acknowledged that!! ... but the DEDICATION & talent of this lovely man Austin Butler is what astounded Baz, his wife, and everyone who was close to Elvis. He is liked by everyone who knows him... that is also remarkable.

@@barbaramatthews696 He is definitely loved by many but I’m finding that the more I watch these type of interviews that provide so much depth the more respect I have for him as an actor. And I already had loads of respect for him as an actor. He’s only 31 years old!! I truly believe he deserves the Oscar but if he doesn’t get it, it’s almost like it doesn’t even matter because we all know that what he did was a tour de force. Listening to that last few minutes re the Unchained Melody and what Baz was thinking, I could have listened to them for several more hours.

I have been an Elvis fan from the beginning of his famous career. I avoided seeing the movie for months following its release. There is no one that came close to Elvis. Finally, I relented and went to see the film. I came out of the theater with tears streaming down my cheeks. I completely forgot I was watching someone other Elvis. Watching Austin in the many interviews he has participated in since the film was released does possess the complex qualities that made up Elvis. I believe Elvis helped this young man connect with his soul.

And let me add, watching this talk again: it is deeply moving how all here talk and think about all the things, people, atmospheres, necessities, …. concerned. What a piece of life, art and more this movie has become! And this here shows just h o w. What a sheer case of luck (and work, clarity, mindfulness and vision) that exactly these people came together.
One more thing, if I may: the „Am I good?“ - question Baz Luhrmann interprets of being there in Elvis‘ look at his audience during the Unchained Melody part at the end of the ELVIS movie for me includes one more or one other aspect and I find this one true and important as well, knowing that interpretations are not a 100% thing, but then we humans cannot but not interpret each other. So I think his look is : „Am I good?“, but maybe also „See, I can still be this good and I wanted to give it to you, my friends“ a n d: „Here we are, you, my audience, and I, and here we are again, we are one, I am you, you are me somehow, and we, all of us have come a long and diverse way, thank you, and maybe this is a task fulfilled now, and who knows what‘s going to be…“.
Somehow I wanted to add this. Thank you.

I think several things are happening with his voice. 1. the mic makes his voice sound deeper and kind of hollow. 2. his work on his voice changed it permanently at least in the short term. 3. he is literally hoarse from all the interviews he has done since the movie premiered. when you get lots of standing applause during a movie and then a 12 minute standing ovation at the end, a lot of people want to talk to you.

Now we are a week or so away from the academy awards and most articles keep saying everything all at once is going to win best film. Can yu even believe that? I couldn't watch it frankly I just ff thru it to get to the end. It's a terrible movie but the Oscars is very political making the awards worthless. Now Austin is no longer being over shadowed by colin Farrell but Brandon fraser. Are you kidding me? There is zero comparison between Branden and Austin. I don't understand the media. But politics influences who wins, not talent. However it won't surprise me if Elvis sweeps the awards. A lot of academy voters are older and watched elvis perform for 25 years.
