I have to say, I'm in love with the keyboard on this thing! It's a Fatar TP/9 with aftertouch! It's SOOO snappy and expressive! It's the aftertouch, and all the things it can be routed to that really do it! BUY THIS SYNTH!
Yeah, i was just reading up on it. It has some great sounds for being a wave table synth. That low end has some beef to it. However, let me plug the DEEP MIND 12. I just got one of those about 3 weeks ago. 12 voice true analog path with HIGH quality effect engine. Paired it up with a kronos 88 and a JD 800. I cry every time i play them. It is absolutely a religious experience. There is an emergent inspiration in that rig that i cannot describe to you but once heard, cannot be unheard....
Adam, Your playing skills are superb imo. Obvious comparisons to Vangelis and his CS80 but it's your own style, real time control and interpretation that shines through. You're very talented and as I've said on your other posts the best Sledge demos on the web. Period!
3:57 wow! you've been capturing a pretty nice "Vangelis" touch earlier, but here you get into real CS-80 territory. The attack pitch, the glide/portamento, filter work all very evocative - they should have hired you for Blade Runner 2049
It remind me some sounds exploration from the difficult controversial "Beaubourg" but in even better, so I used to love Vangelis for several other works. Your approach is just bluffing and very expressive. Bravo!
Best virtual analog ever made imho, i got rid on one reluctantly to buy a vintage oberheim OBX, i rebought the sledge years later as it does things other synths cant get near, and the fatar keyboard is fab
great demo. i own a sledge. love it. its great classic moog layout is what sold me. that and it sounds very nice .all those knobs can be mapped to other midi devices so it fitted great in my studio as my main synth and controller keyboard. happy with it.
Thanks for making this one as well. I am also obsessed with getting my Prophet 08 to sound similar to the CS-80! Thanks for posting these sounds. I will try to emulate an emulation of the original with my emulator. ^_^
No need to be so modest. This is very impressive, and so is your playing. Not only do you pay credit to the CS80 but also to the Sledge. I assume it's a V2? It's clear you have studied the original very well. Better to be good on a few good instruments or maybe even one then to own a whole herd of them and not get the best out of any. I even think you would be more deserving to own a CS80 then most off those who still do, since this has become more a matter of wealth then musicality. Believe me: In some ways you should actually be glad you don't. A stable modern synth is in many ways preferable. If only if they had polyphonic aftertouch and a long ribbon, eh? Well, then my advice is: Buy an ASM Hydrasynth!
Thank you for such kind words, man! I agree with you about the entire aspect of becoming a master of your synthesizer, as opposed to just buying as many as you can. People seem to think that if they're not writing good material on a synthesizer, it's the synth's fault, so they just keep buying more of them hoping that one of them will make them write better. Some times, this is actually the case; but usually in such cases it's because they need more polyphony, or more synthesis, or what have you. The reality is that more often than not, they just don't have the chops or the understanding of synthesis, or both! Now I'm not saying that I'm classically trained or anything; far from it! I'm self-taught and play by ear, but I still can't read or write notation, because it's more-or-less useless to me. However, I spent most of my childhood playing regular old piano and trying to mimic boogie-woogie and blues; I had no idea what a synthesizer was until I was a teenager. Thankfully! If I had discovered it sooner, I probably would have spent a lot less time on my playing and more on synthesis itself. Synthesizers arrived at a perfect time in my life, because it was just as I was becoming stagnant on the piano; after all, there's only so much you can do with the piano. I'm babbling, let me digress: in my opinion, people should learn to play before they get into synthesizers. Synthesizers are not good first instruments because they involve two separate skills, instrumentation and subtractive synthesis. They're advanced instruments! I have definitely seen a few CS-80s in the hands of people who wouldn't know what to do with it if it bit their cocks off, and that's always a bummer. Over the years of seeing a true "player's synth" in incompetent hands, I've learned how to cope with the fact that they have a CS-80 and I don't. I just remind myself that they own one of a handful of working CS-80s, as temperamental as they are, probably pay out the ass to keep it maintained, and that's not even mentioning how much it cost them to acquire in the first place......all of this analog beauty, and they'll never be able to get the most out of it. I'll take my Sledge for $1000 (I upgraded to a black edition a few weeks ago) and focus on making music out of my patches, and not trying to buy every synth in history.
I’m finally ordering a Sledge next week and I can’t wait. Your videos were a big help in that decision. This one and the atmospheric one in particular. Still got yours, Adam?
Adam this test is absolutely wonderful, Like the sounds and the capacity of sound/noise control, Just a question is there any big difference between the yellow and the black version of the Sledge 2?
Hey thanks! There used to be more differences, but now since the yellow runs on the same OS as the black, the only real differences are the semi-weighted keys on the black version, and the extra couple of PPG waves.
Generic Account haha! YEAH BUDDY! That is awesome, dude. This thing is a beast of an instrument and has an amazing keyboard with aftertouch! Let me know when you get it, because you'll want to update the OS to the latest version, which currently is 2.5.1. Feel free to use me as a guide if you have any questions or problems.
yeah i keep finding myself coming back to listening to this one so i know its the right choice, got a good deal too! the guy said it has the latest OS so thats great but if thats not the case and i have problems ill come and pick your brain :)
Hi Adam! Thanks to your videos I found and picked up an original Sledge from a consignment store yesterday. Could you help point me in the right direction so I can perform the operating system updates. I'll be purchasing your soundpacks soon as I have that all completed. You're a stellar sound designer! Great job!
Jay L Sure thing! Firstly, go to the SLEDGE website and download the latest OS and the utility called "Spectre". Install Spectre on your computer and then connect the SLEDGE to your computer via USB. After that, you can use Spectre to update your synth. Load the OS file into Spectre and then hit the upgrade/update button (on the software) and it will automatically send it to the synth and install it. It takes a few minutes to complete, but it will work, so don't worry if it lingers for a bit. Just don't interrupt the process else' you might fuck it up.

This is great Adam. I have the black one and do really enjoy it! Mine doesn’t get played anything like as well as yours though!
Is this discrete analog or modeled circuitry?
Cause it sounds pretty damn good if it is modeled.
I feel this and a deep mind 12 would work well together. I just picked up a DM12 and am loving it. Really captures the JUNO 106 well.
It's analog modeling! Pretty awesome, eh?
Yeah, i was just reading up on it. It has some great sounds for being a wave table synth. That low end has some beef to it.

Quite possibly the best Studiologic Sledge video on UA-cam!
You're too kind.

Barry Warne Haha! Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you liked it.
Stunning CS80 emulation sounds, the Sledge is a great synthesizer!
Great demo and playing Adam! Your programming of the Sledge certainly captures some of those classic CS-80 tones. Well done.
Thanks, buddy!
Really enjoying this - great playing - really dynamic. Thanks Adam.
Thanks, El Chap!
I am in envy of your talent, really great to listen to. Thanks.
someone get this man a cs 80
It remind me some sounds exploration from the difficult controversial "Beaubourg" but in even better, so I used to love Vangelis for several other works. Your approach is just bluffing and very expressive. Bravo!
very CS-80 like indeed, plus nice expressive playing and nod to the CS-80's Electone Organ heritage
I Have pickup the Black one Last Week and I love It Two Keep The Good Work Just Love The Sounds
Best virtual analog ever made imho, i got rid on one reluctantly to buy a vintage oberheim OBX, i rebought the sledge years later as it does things other synths cant get near, and the fatar keyboard is fab
It really is one of a kind! Still, congrats on the OB-X!
great demo. i own a sledge. love it. its great classic moog layout is what sold me. that and it sounds very nice .all those knobs can be mapped to other midi devices so it fitted great in my studio as my main synth and controller keyboard. happy with it.
Le sledge a vraiment des sons super merci pour la démo...👍👍👍

First you make a Minilogue sound like a CS80, and now this. Wonderful!
The bass notes in particular are SO round and warm. Nice patch. Wish I had some play money.....
Interesting bit of kit. sounds great. nice work man, . like the composition
Hello Adam,..very cool creativ work.
greetings
Man this is gorgeous
Felicitaciones..... Cómo llegaste a el último sonido de brass ??? Es solo con los efectos del Studiologic ??? O efectos externos
love mine, in constant use
11:19 is just... 10/10
Been on my wishlist for a while. Should have picked one up when I saw it for $600 B-stock.
Hearing this and your minilogue videos, i’d love to see what you’d be able to do with a Microkorg XL

Still do! I love my Sledge! I would have to say that it's my favorite polysynth in my arsenal; you're going to love it.
Adam Borseti Awesome glad to hear it! I have a feeling it may become my favorite as well. Thanks :)
A bargain as is, but you can pick one up for around 750. Nearly irresistible if you have the space.
Even if you don’t have space you could always sell the dining room table.
I would love these patches, are they for sale ?
Paul Horsley yes sir! There's over 100 of them, and I'm adding to them all the time. The cost is $40; just email me at Synthestalker@gmail.com
Adam Borseti hi that email doesn’t seem to work?
Yeah, I never heard from you. That IS my email address though, so perhaps you could try it again? I'll check my spam......

Sounds more like a CS-80 than the Arturia!
Fantastic....
If you've tried it, better or worse than the ultranova?
I would love to hear your version of "Mesa" from 'Blade Runner 2049'.
This i s AMAZING. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice sir
Very nice !
Another Beaubourg perhaps?
Great stuff adam! have you played with a moog sub 37 yet?
Thanks! I haven't played with a Sub-37 yet....
