It's been a while since I've uploaded a video on the count of me being really sick! Anyway, I recorded this cover with authenticity in mind (as always) and had a lot of fun recreating it as best as I could. All sounds are coming from the Sledge, except the drums, which are from the original extended mix. All I did was loop them, and add a bit more punch on the bottom end. Everything else, from the Minimoog bass line to the Oberheim strings are all Sledge; even the rhythm guitar!
In the video, I'm playing the big, Oberheim brass stabs in the choruses as well as the sync-solo towards the end. The other tracks have been recorded already, and I'm playing along with them.
ENJOY!

Some of the best 80s songs and you don't see many cover bands do their stuff. You're the man, Borsetti.
Brilliant. I could feel the energy.
Very beautiful cover! 👍
Killer job man! Would love you hear someone do Jump by Pointer Sisters. Trying to get the patches right on OP-X Pro II but I cant seem to nail the tones.
Amazing. Love the drums
Awesome job. Love the song
Sooo perfect! We make great team, I do vocals to it , thank you glad I found you!💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻
It's a lot of fun, isn't it?
Adam Borseti good clean fun! You are really good😎
@@rebeccav4659 "fun natural fun?" 🙂
Yes, that was a Tom-Tom Club reference.
You won’t stump me pal😜
@@rebeccav4659 😃
I always love your playing!
Elaine D Thanks! I always love these comments!
bass guitar is so funky on this tune
That's actually a synthesizer! I believe it was a Minimoog to be exact.
Good job. Very accurate. Thumbs up man!.
Wow, that sounds good!
Great work! How did you sequence the drums and bass? did you play the bass live, or quantised etc?
This is great- not just for the sounds but cos the chords are actually really hard to work out! You don't have them do you?! ;)
Thanks for the compliment! As for the song, I learned it by ear, like I always have, but give me a second to get out of the shitter, and I'll get you the chords using my piano chord identification.
HAHAHAH! Thank you!
@@AdamBorseti Did ya ever get out the shitter as I'd love to know the chords too!
Awesome job man!
Nice. A "Men without Hats" fan.
A huge one! I saw them at Johnny D's in 2015 and got to meet Ivan and his band mates; it was a great time!
Incredible!
Awesome synth timbre and playing!
Can you elaborate on it a bit if you don't mind, if you want of course? I dig the sound/tone.
Synthesizer name, type (analog, digital probably, FM, ...) , preset?, self made patch?, controls (saw, pulse, triangle, oscillator, multiple oscillators?), ADSR, etc.
Thanks in advance. :)
It's a Studiologic Sledge 2, all self-made patches, all effects internal from the Sledge and the drums were taken and looped from the real song. The rhythm guitar is also the Sledge - literally everything besides the drums is the Sledge. Get one. 😉
Brilliant!
Great playing. Is it just the modulation wheel you hit at 42 seconds or is that called the vibrato wheel ?. I have a similar chord preset in diva but when I press the modulation wheel, it doesn't sound so good. You sound really like the record here so I thought I'd ask.
Thanks for watching! It's called a modulation wheel, or "mod wheel" for short. The reason for this is because you can usually use it for more modulation effects than just vibrato, depending on what you map to it. For instance, the Sledge mod wheel can be tied to simple vibrato with a sine wave, or you can use it to open and close the filter, or even crazy stuff like add audio-rate filter/pitch modulation. It all depends on what you've got it connected to.
Thanks for your response. What do you have it set to in this video ? Vibrato or vibrato plus something else.
I love your work! And also your yellow synth, what brand is it Adam?
Thank you, Mayo! The yellow synth is a Studiologic Sledge 2.0, but now I have the newer model, the Sledge Black.
@@AdamBorseti Thats so cool Adam, looking forward to more of your vids
YESSS
Hell yeaa
hahhhhhahahah!!! Baby that's how it's supposed to sound
THIS IS WICKED
Sweet!! 😎🎵👍
Killer!
Bravo!
What synth did they originally used to record the song?
Minimoog for bass, and an Oberheim "System" (OB-Xa, DMX, DSX) for the rest.
Adam Borseti Thank you, and great job on the recreation!

Woohoo!
I made a song with this. (Named, Shotguns And Bombs)
Hello Adam, It's a good work. I've got 2 questions : is it the Sledge 1 or the Sledge 2 ? Did you upgrade it with the last firmware (version 2.5) ?
Thanks a lot. Fred
Hey, Fred.
I bought this as a Sledge 2.1 out of the box, but I upgraded the OS to version 2.5.1 as soon as it was released.
