J. Blud Channel Thanks for watching & that’s a great question! Let’s get this figured out! We recommend opening your hood & looking at your engine information sticker. The sticker is usually on the underside of hood however it can also be on the frame portion just above your radiator fan. Your engine size info will be stated on that sticker. After verifying your engine size, you will then want to refer to your owners manual & verify proper oil quantities for your specific engine. Keep us posted! Thanks for watching & conventional oil is recommended to be changed every 3,000 miles and synthetic oil depending on which brand/grade you use can be extended in most cases to be replaced between 5,000-7,500 miles.
Hey buddy how did the truck run after the switch. I got a 2010 this year. The first thing I did was change the oil from conventional to synthetic. Bad idea!!!! She ran like shit. To the point I changed her back the next day. Thought I ruined my engine. Had 94,000 then. Now I’m up too 128,000. Does that mean I can’t go synthetic?
Marlon Paul Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Marlon. That’s interesting! After we switched to Synthetic blend, the engine runs great & as normal as normal can be. It’s possible that the quantity of synthetic oil added to engine was below or above the proper fill parameters. As you know, an engine that has too much oil will begin to foam. As the internal engine parts begin to move at operating speeds, there is a significant amount of pressure building. If there is too much oil inside engine, it interferes with the moving parts & proper pressure & the oil begins to thicken...kinda like pudding that takes 5 minutes to make...odd but very similar example! Let us know if this helps at all. Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your UA-cam notification Bell 🛎 that would be awesome thanks again Marlon! 😎👍🔧🔩
Marlon Paul Very cool, when it comes time to drain oil, try allowing a full hour for the oil to drain to ensure you have as much oil out as possible. 😎👍🔧🔩
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. That doesn’t sound fun. Has there been any aftermarket equipment installed recently installed? This will help us pinpoint whether or not the battery is being drained by anything that was recently added to your electrical system?
@@ICEISWISE1 Thanks for the reply. A loose ground wire somewhere within the electrical system can definitely create a parasitic draw. How old is battery?

My 2009 Colorado LT with the 3.7 inline 5 cyl engine calls for 5W/30 oil I've always had great luck with AC Delco Filters
I thought Chevy Colorado takes
5W-30 oil..??

it does
Mine does... 3.7 liter takes 6 quarts of 5W-30
Higher mileage engines are encouraged to use a higher weight oil to extend engine life. Ads a bit more lubrication
I have 2012 Colorado and I use valvoline full synthetic 5-30 with a purolator one filter.

Don't the engine cover\plenum pieces say Vortec 2900 or Vortec 3700 on them?

Why do you use 10w30 my manual says to use 5w20 or 5w30 ?

DIY With Michael Borders is 10w30 recommended for all full synthetic oils? For this interval I’m running Castrol high mileage full synthetic.
